May 9, 200719 yr Been having some issues with ASV6.5 just not displaying visability correctly. I configured my own weather to have 3 miles vis with and overcast layer of 200'. The problem is that I get the field at about 4 miles out (not really an issue) but I am in a haze layer. I can see the ground at 1000'. Do I have a configuration problem? Overcast should be just that - in the clouds (zero vis) until breaking out at 200'. Here a copy of my config file. Thanks for any help - this is a great program.//ASv6.5 configuration file Build 552[General]WindowPosX = 495WindowPosY = 495DefaultWeatherFolder = E:Flight Simulator 9ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = E:Flight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsSteveApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 7LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 25LastPlanFolder = C:Documents and SettingsSteveMy DocumentsFlight Simulator FilesAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = KSEADefaultGraphicsFullTheme = DefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = AutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = FalseIncreasedWake = TrueDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = FalseForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = FalseUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = FalseAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = TrueOnlineUpdates = FalseExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = TrueExtendTstormLayers = FalseDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = FalseLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = FalseDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = TrueAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = FalseZuluConversion = -5AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONE
May 9, 200719 yr Hi,Thanks for the words!Where are you configuring the visibility and cloud layers? If in FS04, then your data gets overwritten the next time AS updates or changes stations. The under-cast issue comes and goes and your settings are fine. Please let us know. Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
May 9, 200719 yr I am using FS9, but I select user defined weather. I set up the weather using something like this in AS: "KOKC 091955Z 22015G25KT 3SM OVC002 18/16 A2992". I tell AS to set the weather for this location and for 100 miles surrounding - it does this and tells me that online updates are off which they should be (override)- and like I stated before at 1000' I can see the ground through haze layer.Hope this info helps. Let me know if I can provide anyother input. Thanks
May 9, 200719 yr Hi,This is really an issue with the way FS04 handles visibility and clouds. You are doing everything you can.Are your cloud settings all set to maximum in FS?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

May 9, 200719 yr Hi,One thing that may really help is changing your 3D Cloud % to 100%Also, make sure that FS is locked to a low enough FPS value. 25 is a good place to start.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
May 9, 200719 yr Jim: I have the FSP locked to 20. Wil try the changing the 3D cloud setting and let you knowThanksSteve
May 9, 200719 yr that did help. I also adjust the setting as described on a one of your other post. I guess you can get close - I will just try to remember that it cannot be real - just real close
May 10, 200719 yr Hi,Good and yes, due to the limitations of the FS engine.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
May 27, 200719 yr Jim, guys, what is CloudsImpostorRingRadius=19200.000000 ?I didn't change it (in FS9.cfg) and it says:CloudsImpostorRingRadius=115200.000000Thanks,Dirk.
May 27, 200719 yr Hi,That is used for the 2D clouds. The setting should be Off in FS and 3D clouds On and set to 100%.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
May 27, 200719 yr >Hi,>>That is used for the 2D clouds. The setting should be Off in>FS and 3D clouds On and set to 100%.>>Thanks,>Jim>Thank you, Jim, but what is Off value for the 2D clouds in the config? I can't find any relevant settings for 2D clouds in FS9 > SETTINGS > DISPLAY > WEATHER.I've got:Sight disnace: 60miCloud draw: 80mi3-D cloud percentage: 100Simple clouds: OffDetaied clouds: TickedCloud coverage density: MaximumI'm thinking if my current CloudsImpostorRingRadius=128000.000000 might still interfere.
May 27, 200719 yr Hi,Simple clouds are 2D clouds, so you are all set with them Off. Don't worry about that .cfg value!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
