May 22, 200719 yr I have had ASV6 since Nov 2004, and am presently running Build 552. I want to discuss a problem that I have had from the start, and have just worked around it up to now. I would like to resolve this. When I open Asv6, I click
May 22, 200719 yr Hi,You are OK. Just ignore the GEP message. Remember that the programs are separate and that is why the messages pop up. You don't need to check the Predefined box and just click on No. Please let me know if you need more help with this!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
May 24, 200719 yr Author OK. I can handle that. I think that some of my confusion came from thinking that ASv6 would automatically start FS9 with Departure and Destination aiports loaded if they were entered when starting ASv6. I do have a couple of questions. 1) If I am not going to use The GEP pop up windows why can't I eliminate them? Next question in the next reply.
May 25, 200719 yr Author 2) Lets say that I enter a departure airport of KBKE Baker City, Oregon. My destination is KBOI Boise, ID. After ASv6 does its thing, I start FS9 and configure my aircraft. ASv6 loads the weather. It usually appears to be accurate. I then wait and get the METAR notice band across the top of the screen. It gives the METAR for Portland, OR. This station is at least 250 miles away and I know that there must be six closer reporting stations between KBKE and Portland, one being KBKE. In this part of the world the weather is almost always vastly different between Portland and KBKE. I welcome your comments on this.
May 25, 200719 yr Hi,1. Because GEP can't tell if you are going to need those windows or not.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
May 25, 200719 yr Hi,2. Where are you located when this happens? What is your default airport set to in ASv6? Just because you have a flightplan loaded, that does not mean that AS only shows that route's weather. AS will still recognize your default location and/or your present location in FS. So if you start at Portland, Portland weather will show until you move to Baker City. Then it takes a few minutes for AS to recognize that you are at Baker City and get that weather into FS.Hope this helps,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
