  1. I ran ******* Bojote's FSX tweak. One of his recommendations is that I try using an external weather program to set my cloud draw distance. I had Active sky on my last system running FS9 and it was fairly demanding. I realize that I have a little bit better system than I had then, however, the way FSX runs with my present system, I am afraid that I can't stand much of a hit from an external weather program. Can some one direct me to the best weather addon that will not cause such a hit on my system. Being retired and on a fixed income it wouldn't hurt for it to be one of the cheaper ones as long as I can set the cloud draw distance externally.
  2. Well Kurt, you put me on the right track. What happened is that I recently removed some A/C from the SimObjects aircraft because I never fly them and I was trying to free up some drive space. One of them was the Aircreation 582SL Ultralight (along with some heavies). The 582SL is the default as you know. Then I saved the Cessna C185F as the default. I have done this before and had no problems however, evidently removing the 582SL made a difference. When I put it back in the hanger everything cleared up. I was even able to put the C185F back as the default with everything working. Thanks for the help.
  3. I have had the C185 installed for a few days and I have run into something strange. With everything set for start up (as far as I know) the engine will crank, however it will never catch. I can go to another AC and start it and then change back to the C185 running and the engine will continue to run. I can then shutdown and the engine will re-start normally. Even stranger, I can then exit FSX and restart and go to the C185F and it will start as it should. Yes the gas is turned on and the master switch is turned on and the mixture is rich. Though not in the C185, I have a bunch of real time in Cessna AC but it has been a while. Even if it may embarrass me, please point out what I am doing wrong or not doing.
  4. I forget to mention that it is the edition for FS9. I have run C182Q since it came out. Thus the patch which is UPCARC182FSX. I was running it fine until I upgraded to W7 64.
  5. After upgrading to W7,I re-installed the Carenado C-182Q. I did not get all of the functions that go with the panel. I am re-installing and have a question as to when should the C182Q patch be installed. Before installing the C-182Q or after, or what? Thanks
  6. When you say I am not limited to DX11, does that mean that I can downgrade to DX9? I DXDiag tells me that I am running DX11. My EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640 MB Clock 660 MHz is only capable to DX10. Does that mean that is a conflict that is causing me trouble? (artifacts) which I have on occasion. What do you mean by "The easy method"? I am intending to upgrade my video card. Should I do that first? Sorry to be so dense, however I am just an ol' country boy and I am not very sophisticated with this stuff.
  7. I have FSX installed with Windows 7 64 bit with DX11. My first attempt at installing the External FPS Limiter did not turn out too well. Before the second attempt I did a more thorough search of the forums. From that I found that:External FPS Limiter will install fine in my system just like it is.External FPS Limiter will not install with Windows 7 with DX11.I need to install DX9 to run External FPS Limiter. If I downgrade DX11 to DX9 I will have trouble. The DX installer won't allow me to downgrade even if I try.FSX will use the parts of DX as needed.DX10 is worthless for FSX.Etc. I suppose that I can find the right path by trial and error but it will be easier if someone would help by leading me out of this. Can I install External FPS Limiter into my system like it is?If it is necessary to downgrade to DX9 can someone give me damnfool proof directions? (I have already had all of the trouble I need).I have good directions for installing External FPS Limiter, it is just the extra information that I gleaned is not helping me any.
  8. I forgot to mention that the Global Texture Resolution was set to low. Moving it to the right solved the problem. I just overlooked the setting. Duh. Thanks again.
  9. Hi Paul J,Thanks for the quick response. I already had the [GRAPHICS] HIGHMEMFIX=1 setting. I changed the [TERRAIN]WATER_EFFECTS=6 from my setting at 3. I no longer have the artifacts. I need one more small change. My + and - work as they should in the exterior views, however when I try to use them to move the panel closer or further away, the exterior moves in and out in relation to the A/C. What can I do to correct this?As an aside, my present GPU overclock worked fine back when I had XP. Since going to Windows 7 64 bit and running FSX on a dedicated WD VRap 150 GB, SATA HDD I find that I can't run my GPU at the overclock it was running on before. I am getting ready to go to a EVGA GeForce GTX460 Superclocked 1024 MB DDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. I have to upgrade components a piece at a time. What is your opinion on this card? Thanks for all of the help.
  10. I setup my NVIDIA Inspector using Ryan Maziarz’ guide. The scenery looks better than I have ever had it although I do have a random white flash artifact occasionally. I am going to have to upgrade my GPU. I have two problems. The edges of the default A/C are as sharp as ever, however the paint is pale and blurry. The A/C numbers are sharp. The interiors of the default A/C are soft and blurry although in most models the instruments are sharp. I only have the Aerosoft DH-2 Beaver as an addon right now, but it is unaffected and sharp and just like it was installed. Evidently I have tweaked the wrong settings during my set up. Can some one tell me what settings influence the problems that I am having here?
  11. While looking at ******* Tweaking and Tuning app I noticed the following: "vSync Fix applied to your configuration! (Make sure you set your driver to Application controlled so the option is NOT forced but applied by FSX itself) Here is the question concerning the phrase in the parenthesis: I have no idea as to how to set my driver to application so that the option is not forced by applied by FSX. Its embarrassing however I need some one to give me some assistance on this. Thanks
  12. Thanks for the USB Deview a handy help. I just downloaded and ran Microsoft fix 976972 from the MicroSoft website. I sure hope this works. Thanks for the help.
  13. I upgraded to Windows 7 64 bit a couple of months ago. At the same time I installed a WD 1TB SATA II, and WD VRap 150 GB, SATA. I re-installed my USB CH Flight Sim Yoke and Pro Pedals by simply plugging them in and booting up. They loaded and have worked perfectly ever since, retaining all calibrating and sensitivity settings – except for one thing. At times they just lose their connection. This occurs at random times and never while in use. To repair I shut down and switch USB ports and boot up again. Here is what I have done in an attempt to fix this problem: Checked Device Manager. This shows all USB devices working properly. In W7 Control Panel is shows all HID-Compliant Gamed Controllers working properly. The BIOS shows all USB functions [Enabled] USB 2.0 Controller [Enabled], USB 2.0 Controller Mode [HiSpeed], BIOS EHCI Hand-off [Enabled] and Legacy USB Support [Auto].When I get the disconnect , I can swap any of the 8 ports in any manner and the problem still occurs but ONLY to the CH Controls. Every time every thing else plugged in continues to work properly.Went to Control Panel> Power Options. There I have tried all combinations of Turn off display from 15 min to Never. Put computer to sleep from 15 min to never. In the advanced I have changed USB selective suspend settings from Enabled to disabled and back. All combinations. Some times certain combinations will delay the disconnect for a couple of days but eventually it happens.I don’t mind stopping and reconnecting however I fear that I am wearing out the USB plugs and I will have to eventually replace the controls just because of this.
  14. I wonder why they call this the Carenado Support forum?
  15. I have been running the C-182Q since 2006. I recently upgraded my system to Windows 7 64 bit with a clean install. I then reinstalled the C-182Q and LR version from a DVD backup and also the update to FSX. Everything works fine except that I do not have the extra keyboard or the panel manager. The master keyboard appears in the Panel Folder but not the extra small keypad, or perhaps the small keypad is there and I don’t know what to look for. What I am looking for now is for some one more knowledgeable than me to tell me how I might install the panel keyboards. Thanks
  16. I have done a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit with a new WD Black Caviar 1TB HDD split in to two partitions, one for the OS system and programs and the other for data. I also added a WD VRap 150 GB SATA 3.0Gb/s for FSX and FSX Simulator Expansion Pack. I intend to run all FSX data files and add-ons in my data partition. Questions: What kind of separation provision for FSX files and addons should I make in my data partition, and please give me any advice as to what should go into the VRap HDD? I figured only FSX and FSX Simulator Expansion Pack. Thanks in advance. 17. O did all of that. As far as I know, everything was done by the book.
  18. Well in Add/Remove it shows MS FSX + SP1 &SP2 but it has also shown MS FSX + Acceleration. FSX is installed in a separate partition on my HHD. I was considering buying a WD Raptor SSD and installing it. Then uninstall everything in my F Drive and then clean installing FSX and Peripherals into the SSD. I know that it might run into more technical knowledge than I have, as I understand there can be some problems in setting up a new SSD. What do you think of that?. Right now Win 7 is a little out of reach.
  19. I was experiencing freezes while running FSX and FS Acceleration. I uninstalled all. I attempted a squeaky clean reinstall. FSX would run fine. When I re-installed Acceleration I was never asked for the Product Key. I know now that this is not untypical of this expansion pack. I soon noted that the Accel. aircraft had not been installed, however SP1 and SP2 were installed. When I ran FSX I had similar freezes as before. I uninstalled and re-installed using the registry fix. Each time I was able to enter the Product Key. Still had the same freezes. I have done this three times. Same thing each time. I am hearing impaired which rules out a MS Tech on the phone. (I doubt that they would know the fix. This evidently is a fairly common problem so why not a fix?) The online MS trouble help is a joke. Does anyone have a solution to this?Intel e6600 Core 2 Duo @ 4.00GHzNoctua NH-U12P CoolerASUS P5Q ProOCZ Reaper 2X2GB DDR2 800 (PC 6400)EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640 MB WD 250GB GB SATA IICorsair CMPSU 550WWindows XP homeI might add that I do not have cooling problems and Accel. does the same on the default as it does on the overclock.
  20. I want to install a second hard in my present system which will be a WD Raptor SATA Hard Drive. I will then install Flight simulator FSX on the new drive and use it strictly for that. Here is my system: Intel e6600 Core 2 Duo @ 4.00GHz ASUS P5Q Pro OCZ Reaper 2X2GB DDR2 800 (PC 6400) EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640 MB WD 250GB GB SATA II Corsair CMPSU 550WI suppose that I should plan on setting it up on Raid 0. If someone is familiar with this board, I would like to know if there is any reason that I can't install this HD, and should I set it to Raid 0?Is there any pitfalls in transferring data?
  21. I have had the Carenado Cessna C-182 Q for over three years and have never been able to determine how to turn the instrument lights on and off. I have to use the cabin lights. There are no instructions in the accompanying manual that I can find . I have not been able to get any response from "contact@coraenado.com" and I can't find any kind of Carenado forum. If any one is running this addon (which otherwise is excellent) would you let me now how to find or fix this problem?
  22. This is surely a simple problem but I am not experienced enough to solve it. Here is the scenario: I plan a flight in FS9 and name it "KSEA direct VFR KPWT" I save it and it saves as a .FLT file. What I want to do is now open ASv6 and import current weather for that route. I open ASv6 and click on "New Route" and then "Import". What I would like to do is import my "KSEA direct VFR KPWT" file but when My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files opens it only shows those files that are .PLN. Ideally I could open ASv6, import my chosen flight plan, download the weather, open up FS9 and go to "My Saved Flights" and click on my "KSEA direct VFR KPWT" and fly. I evidently am doing something wrong or I am expecting something that is not possible.I would appreciate any instruction on this.
