February 9, 201115 yr I setup my NVIDIA Inspector using Ryan Maziarz’ guide. The scenery looks better than I have ever had it although I do have a random white flash artifact occasionally. I am going to have to upgrade my GPU. I have two problems. The edges of the default A/C are as sharp as ever, however the paint is pale and blurry. The A/C numbers are sharp. The interiors of the default A/C are soft and blurry although in most models the instruments are sharp. I only have the Aerosoft DH-2 Beaver as an addon right now, but it is unaffected and sharp and just like it was installed. Evidently I have tweaked the wrong settings during my set up. Can some one tell me what settings influence the problems that I am having here?
February 9, 201115 yr Hi Oldog:Check that your Global Texture Resolution is set to maximum.Your GPU is probably ok. For flashing - these are the fixes. Check that: 1).[GRAPHICS]HIGHMEMFIX=1and 2).[TERRAIN]WATER_EFFECTS=6are in your fsx.cfg. Both affect flashing. HIMEM is for large full-screen flashing, and WATER=6 is for small random flashing. i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
February 9, 201115 yr Author Hi Paul J,Thanks for the quick response. I already had the [GRAPHICS] HIGHMEMFIX=1 setting. I changed the [TERRAIN]WATER_EFFECTS=6 from my setting at 3. I no longer have the artifacts. I need one more small change. My + and - work as they should in the exterior views, however when I try to use them to move the panel closer or further away, the exterior moves in and out in relation to the A/C. What can I do to correct this?As an aside, my present GPU overclock worked fine back when I had XP. Since going to Windows 7 64 bit and running FSX on a dedicated WD VRap 150 GB, SATA HDD I find that I can't run my GPU at the overclock it was running on before. I am getting ready to go to a EVGA GeForce GTX460 Superclocked 1024 MB DDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card. I have to upgrade components a piece at a time. What is your opinion on this card? Thanks for all of the help.
February 9, 201115 yr Author I forgot to mention that the Global Texture Resolution was set to low. Moving it to the right solved the problem. I just overlooked the setting. Duh. Thanks again.
February 9, 201115 yr Well I'm glad some of the issues got fixed, Oldog!.. With regard to the GPU.. what are the components of your existing system, and what problems are you having when you say you can't o/c the gpu since moving to Win7?? Overclocking the graphics card doesn't do an awful lot for FSX, mate. It wants a 4 - 4.5 gig processor. The card? I have no opinion of it, I'm afraid. the 470 was #2, the 480was #1 - now it's the 580 as the top card, so I think you're going backwards. My wife has my old gpu, and that was an ATI 5870, which is almost as good as the 580, so I would think you could get a 470 at a very good price nowadays. The + and - thingy..... No idea there, either - but there are others here, lots smarter than me here, so I hope one of them will chime in! Take care! i7 [email protected] | 32GB RAM | EVGA RTX 3080Ti | Maximus Hero VII | 512GB 860 Pro | 512GB 850 Pro | 256GB 840 Pro | 2TB 860 QVO | 1TB 870 EVO | Seagate 3TB Cloud | EVGA 1000 GQ | Win10 Pro | EK Custom water cooling.
