July 6, 201015 yr I want to install a second hard in my present system which will be a WD Raptor SATA Hard Drive. I will then install Flight simulator FSX on the new drive and use it strictly for that. Here is my system: Intel e6600 Core 2 Duo @ 4.00GHz ASUS P5Q Pro OCZ Reaper 2X2GB DDR2 800 (PC 6400) EVGA GeForce 8800GTS 640 MB WD 250GB GB SATA II Corsair CMPSU 550WI suppose that I should plan on setting it up on Raid 0. If someone is familiar with this board, I would like to know if there is any reason that I can't install this HD, and should I set it to Raid 0?Is there any pitfalls in transferring data?

However, I would not set it up in a Raid 0 configuration but simply call the new hard drive your D drive (it will do this automatically once it recognizes the HD). Setting up a Raid system is a bit more complicated and you would best have it done professionally. For one, both HDs would have to be the same. FSX performance doesn't get any better with a Raid system. Plus, with a Raid 0 config, if one hard drive fails, you'll lose everything on both hard drives. Once you get the additional SATA drive installed, I would strongly recommend you reinstall FSX and have it installed to Drive D. Moving the data over to the new hard drive will work but you'll also have to change Registry settings as they will show FSX is installed on Drive C. A lot of people keep their installation of FSX on the C drive and all their addons on another harddrive. Hope this helps.Best regards,Jim
July 7, 201015 yr Thanks for the help, Jim.You're welcome! I might add there is more info about Raid0 config's in NickN's excellent tutorial on setting up FSX and tuning it: http://www.simforums.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=29041. Scroll down to "About Storage Performance".Jim
