I was referring to previous weeks. There is another one coming, and so far no depiction in ASX: It's already classified as a medium typhoon with winds far in excess of 45 mphhttp://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r45/abu...1406AllTyph.jpghttp://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r45/abu...07-08-14-18.jpg==Marten:Weber==P-D920 oc3.64MHz 2GB RAM WinXP ATI X1900+1024MB 2xSATA250 2xVIEWSONIC 19"Need AI? Hi,But look at the top map. It is not going to be anywhere near land until the 16th.Flossie did not show up until she reached a station and was classified as a hurricane. There may be a naming issue also here. I don't thing we are going to display anything classified as a TS. It may have to be a hurricane. As far as wind speed I may have mis-spoke because I did say 45 mph winds, but in combination with other factors. In many parts of the world there are 45 mph winds and of course we don't depict those as hurricanes either.Damian is really the one who knows what the total characteristics of a storm must be, before it shows up.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Hi,Ok, here's how it works:Western Pacific, Eastern Pacific and Atlantic "hurricane zones" are covered with data.As far as ASX is concerned, a Hurricane, Typhoon, Cyclone are all the same things, but they are not modeled until they hit Category-1 Hurricane stage or 64knots (~75mph).The hurricane does not need to make landfall or hit a wx station before it is depicted. As soon as it is officially monitored with 64kt winds it will be depicted. There was a certain delay associated with FLOSSIE due to a naming convention problem (bug) on the server end which was corrected. In the future any storm with 64kt winds + residing in Western Pacific, Eastern Pacific or Atlantic should show immediately.Best,

Thanks, for the explanation, this feature is very exciting. I'll be monitoring the situation in the Western Pacific. 75 mph makes more sense. Typhoon "SEPAT" is now forming nicely east of the Philippineshttp://i141.photobucket.com/albums/r45/abu...07-08-15-09.jpgcurrent wind speeds are 095 kts sustained gusting 135 kthttp://www.jma.go.jp/en/typh/It is not depicted in ASX so according to your explanation it is not "officially monitored" yet ?? Where would one go on the net to find out which ones are officially monitored? Which institution is your data based on?Thanks!==Marten:Weber==P-D920 oc3.64MHz 2GB RAM WinXP ATI X1900+1024MB 2xSATA250 2xVIEWSONIC 19"Need AI? Get AI: www.world-of-ai.com

well, 3 typhoons later not a single one has been depicted in ASXthe current monster "Wipha" is also not there, despite being picked up with strong winds by several stations. http://www.jma.go.jp/en/typh/==Marten:Weber==P-D920 oc3.64MHz 2GB RAM WinXP ATI X1900+1024MB 2xSATA250 2xVIEWSONIC 19"Need AI?
