Strobes flashing too fast; a small change

Featured Replies

In the effects folder open fx_strobe or/and fx_strobeh with textviewerchange the value "Rate=5.0, 5.0" to a lower value=longer pause between flashesexample;[Emitter.0]Lifetime=0.00, 0.00Delay=0.00, 0.00Bounce=0.00No Interpolate=1Rate=2.0, 2.0etc.but also change further down[Emitter.1]Lifetime=0.00, 0.00Delay=0.00, 0.00Bounce=0.00No Interpolate=1Rate=2.0, 2.0etc.This seems more realistic to me.experiment with the rate values to suite your taste. You can add more emitters (Emitter.2 & 3; copy & paste 1 & 2 below and change to 2 & 3) and slightly offset the rate value of those; Rate=2.5, 2.5 to get that quick double flash a la dc-10 :-) Have fun!

Great Tip!, Can you create a separate effects file for different aircraft? Also, is it possible to alter the landing lights so they do not turn off and on instantly, but turn off and on gradually like large incandescent light bulbs do in reality?

Thanks Pabra, I have added your great tip to the Flight Sim Veterans Tips and Tricks database for future reference. Thanks, great tip! :-wave---Banners? We don't need no stinkin' banners!---Visualize PAI sig banner here.

Answer to this question is YES.I modified several strobe effects files for various airplanes, ranging from the FSD T-38 to their Seneca and the PA A320.Eric
