February 16, 200818 yr Hi allNow this has recently started and ain't got a clue what is wrong.I am now seeing bands of colour in the sky and water as though the colours are not blending together. More noticeable at sunset. Also the water has 'fluffy' white patches which look like cloud reflections but they are not. Looks as if my PC setting are showing 16 bit colour when in fact they are at 32 bit.Clouds are also looking a little iffy, with colour bands radiating from the centre to the outsides. What can that be?Using the latest nVidia 8800GTX drivers, Vista 32bit, FSX SP1.I did install SP2 but uninstalled it. Not sure if that woudl have created the problem.May have to take some screenshots.Any advise appreciated.RegardsGary
February 16, 200818 yr Commercial Member Hi Gary,It sounds like video driver/configuration issues. I have encountered this personally in the past. The solution in my case was to delete the fsx.cfg file and reconfigure my settings. Its worth also checking that your windows video settings are 32 bit color. It may be helpful to restore the default FSX textures (XG options screen) to eliminate the textures from the equation. I don't think the problem is here but worth a look.Let me know.. if you continue having trouble please do share a screenshot or two.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
February 16, 200818 yr DamienThanks for your post.Since my original message I went back to XG and used the default. Clouds seems to be much better now and so does the water but the sky still seems to have a little banding. I also deleted the fax config file too.I am using 32 bit colur. Now, I am not sure but I have played with the nVidia graphics via their control panel 'I would like to use the following 3d settings' it is possible I have messed up here. Using the latest driver but as well noted before you cannot remove the FSX profile.Could it be here that is the problem? Can it be reset?RegardsGary
February 16, 200818 yr Commercial Member Hi again Gary,Not sure on this, I'm not really a graphics guru but maybe someone here can help with the settings.FWIW I noticed when I switched to flat panel displays a couple years ago that certain color banding can't be minimized, especially when flying at night.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
