February 28, 200818 yr Hi There,There are some serious issues with this software.Firstly...take a look at the following pictures/screengrabs.As you can see, there are discrepancies between the different screens...although the report appears to have updated the weather to 2 layers of Cirrus, the Briefing still holds on to the "last downloaded" weather...and so does the rendering in FSX itself.I cannot for the life of me get ASX (networked) to render what I want it to. It has a mind of its own.I mean why are there 4 different screens for a start where you can "update" or "refresh" weather...why is it so complicated.Never mind all the wind smoothing and other gimmicky functions - why not just concentrate on a user-friendly interface that is intuitive to use. This is a nightmare.Basically, the different screens can't even agree on what the weather is, and user configuration does not work...it even reverts to "Stratus" after a few minutes...effectively overwriting my Cirrus layers !##### ??http://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh210/g...Capture_104.jpghttp://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh210/g...Capture_103.jpghttp://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh210/g...Capture_102.jpghttp://i257.photobucket.com/albums/hh210/g...Capture_105.jpgAll the images were taken within 10 seconds of each other after waiting 2 minutes or so for the weather to render....the weather in the "Briefing" section is what was downloaded as current weather and that rendered in FSX perfectly...but I'm trying to edit the layers to change it to what I want...and some screens suggest I can, successfully, while others don't agree....!!!And your manual could really do with actually being written. There is nothing more in the manual than can be gleaned by looking at the info balloons that pop up when you mouse-over something. And look at the config screen...there are THREE different buttons that appear to update/refresh the weather...."Apply Weather"...."Load Current".....and on the left...."Update Wx"....Now...which are you meant to press...and when, and in which order ?Do you see my frustration ?I know many other think the same...I'm just at the end of my tether and felt it was about time something was said. This whole thing needs re-working from the ground...up...starting with the interface.
February 29, 200818 yr Hi Gabe,Sorry for your frustrations. Let's see if I can help.First, lets start with the many other users that think the same way. Can you point us in their direction? I would like to read their posts and attempt to help them if I can.Second, if you click on the Help button, a full manual will open with many chapters that explain in detail, every screen and button.Next, screen #1 is totally correct. What do you think is wrong there?Screen #3 is where you manually set up your own weather. At this point you have not changed a single thing from the downloaded METAR. Also, if you were to Apply Weather, it would be in effect for a 10 mile radius, based on your Application Range setting.Load Weather will load the current weather for the Selected Station ID. It gives a user a METAR to start editing with, instead of starting a METAR from scratch.Apply Weather is used when you are all done editing the weather and you want to make this weather appear in FSX. You must use this button, or else your changed weather will not be shown in FSX.Refresh Wx, on the left, does just that. It downloads the current data, processes it, and sends it to FSX. If you are in Offline Mode, it re-processes and sends your offline data to FSX. We do attempt to make things as easy as possible, but as with every complex product, there is a learning curve involved. Most users want to install, run, make some settings choices, and download weather and it shows up in FSX. For others, there are more complex features which require some study.I hope this helps a bit. If not, please ask some more specific questions and I'll do what I can to help!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
February 29, 200818 yr Sorry,I haven't made myself clear.Screen 3 is where I manually set my weather....and this appears to be have been accepted as per screen 1.However, the weather displayed in FSX agrees with the weather in screen 2...which is the weather that was downloaded 10 minutes earlier....!So in other words...the weather I tried to create...would not be updated in screen 2 or indeed..in FSX itself. Downloaded weather works fine...but for some reason...perhaps due to the fact that it's networked...it will not use my custom created weather systems.
February 29, 200818 yr Commercial Member Hi there,There is a known issue right now with the SP3 beta and custom weather setting refreshing syncs. This can cause these kinds of mismatches, most of which can be solved by performing a refresh (while one is not currently in progress i.e. synthesis is not in progress) after your changes have been applied. We'll be getting that solved in short order. Thanks for the details in this thread.Best, Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
