Hi,Anything up to 5 minutes is acceptable. It's not your download, it's the processing of all the weather data. What are your system specs? Also, pleas make sure that any unnecessary processes are shut down. One other thing, it may be your anti-virus scanning the data.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Jim,Could you please name the ASX folder(s) we should add to our AV ignore-list to alleviate any potential conflict? Preferably both the Vista and XP variants if user-folders are involved? Thanks,

Hi Jim,My system specs is:- Intel Core2 Duo E6750 (2.66GHz)- Mobo ASUS P5WDH-Deluxe- 2Gb RAM DDR2-800- NVidia 8800GTS (320Mb)- 3 HDDs Seagate ST3250820AS (in RAID5 mode)- WinXP SP2- Anti-virus AVAST (Home Edition)Any other process is not running when I start ASX.Regards,Renato S. Yamane

>- 3 HDDs Seagate ST3250820AS (in RAID5 mode)Renato,Do yourself a favor and get rid of the Raid5. It is an absolute drive performance killer. Dedicate a single fast drive to you FSX enviornment. Net even a raid0 will improve performance becuase of the average file-size of FSX files unless you have a professional Raid controller card which start in the $500 range. Throw a 10,000 rpm drive such as the WD Raptor and you'll be golden. Raid5 performance is the worst Raid configuration for any performance minded PC.Regards,

Only in FSX this not occour (but speed increase a little bit, and NOT decrease). My RAID5 is not the problem. I do a benchmark (in my machine) before go to RAID5.Regards,Renato S. Yamane

Hi,Let's keep things on track! In AVAST, turn Off Standard Shield. When I reviewed your first post I noticed that the longest part of the whole process was the actual download of the weather data. That could be because of your Internet connection.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Maybe the problem is with "Primary Server":Starting from "Secondary Server" and Standard Shield OFF (Avast):18:33:18: Initialization complete18:33:24: Downloading global weather data for 19/3/2008 21:33:24 (21Z) from Secondary Server...18:33:34: Saving weather to disk18:33:49: Download complete18:33:49: Populating weather stream with new data...18:33:49: Parsing line items18:34:37: 7687 stations were scanned (669 did not provide recent data)18:34:37: Weather stream fully populated with new data18:34:37: Weather synthesis thread has been started18:34:49: Synthesis updated...18:34:49: Weather injection thread has been started18:34:49: Data output thread has been started18:34:50: Station data export completed18:34:50: **** ASX Initial Weather Synthesis Complete! ****Total: 1m32secStarting from "Primary Server" and Standard Shield ON:18:40:58: Initialization complete18:41:02: Downloading global weather data for 19/3/2008 21:41:02 (21Z) from Primary Server...18:43:24: Saving weather to disk18:43:39: Download complete18:43:39: Populating weather stream with new data...18:43:39: Parsing line items18:44:27: 7687 stations were scanned (664 did not provide recent data)18:44:27: Weather stream fully populated with new data18:44:27: Weather synthesis thread has been started18:44:39: Synthesis updated...18:44:39: Weather injection thread has been started18:44:39: Data output thread has been started18:44:40: Station data export completed18:44:40: **** ASX Initial Weather Synthesis Complete! ****Total: 3m42secStarting from "Primary Server" and Standard Shield OFF:18:45:24: Initialization complete18:45:29: Downloading global weather data for 19/3/2008 21:45:29 (21Z) from Primary Server...18:47:50: Saving weather to disk18:48:04: Download complete18:48:04: Populating weather stream with new data...18:48:04: Parsing line items18:48:53: 7687 stations were scanned (665 did not provide recent data)18:48:53: Weather stream fully populated with new data18:48:53: Weather synthesis thread has been started18:49:04: Synthesis updated...18:49:05: Weather injection thread has been started18:49:05: Data output thread has been started18:49:06: Station data export completed18:49:06: **** ASX Initial Weather Synthesis Complete! ****Total: 3m42secAVAST don

>Hi Al,>Just the currentwxshapshot.txt file.I think that correct name is current_wx_snapshot.txtThis file have 1,5Mb size, but the problem is not with anti-virus how can we see in my last post.Regards,Renato S. Yamane

Hi,There is really nothing wrong with 2 times of 3:42. If things were consistantly over 5 minutes, then there might be something wrong, but that is not the case. With the 2 servers we try to spread the workload out and there is no way to force a server.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Hi Jim,1.5Mb (current_wx_snapshot.txt size) in 5min mean a transfer rate of only 5Kb/sec.But OK, I understand you.Regards,Renato
