Stuck in Simconnect ####......

Featured Replies

Up to yesterday I was working fine with the following:-XP Home SP2FSX SP1 (Deluxe)ActiveSky SP2Then I purchased Xpax and was unable to get it to connect to Simconnect (the message says it cannot find 10.0.61242.0. I decided to follow all your support suggestions but these only resulted in Active sky then complaining that it cannot find Simconnect.Eventually I unistalled everything (FSX, FSXSP1, ASX, XPAX) and proceeded to rebuild. I have tried the following combinations:-FSX, FSX SP1FSX, FSX SP1, SDK, SDK SP1AFSX, FSX SP2FSX, FSX SP2, SDK SDK SP1A, SDKSP2Now each time I get the same results:- ASX says it cannot load Simconnect XPAX says it cannot find 10.0.61242.0 FSUIPC4 install finds simconnect (in its install log) FSUIPC4 picks up and validates Simconnect and works fine (as seen its it startup and run log)I would seem to have all the correct files in WinSxS and have DLLs for 60505, 61242 and 61259 being correctly installed. Again FSUIPC4 seems to pick the newest version it finds and gets on with things.I have tried installing the SDK SImconnect but I believe this is only needed for multiple machine operations. In any case it does not seem to make a difference.I am now at a complete loss and have non-working versions of all your software..(It would seem from my novice view that simconnect is in and working but whatever test you are doing for its presence it not. What can I do next to help you get me working again?Ian

As of my last install I have DLLs in place for 60905,61242 and 61259. However when I look in the manifest folder I have Security Catalog and manisfest files for the first and last but not for 61242.Is this the cause (am technical but not THAT technical)?Ian

OK, I have figured this out and hope this helps anyone else who gets stuck in this hole. The FSX installer sometimes makes a mess of this!I uninstalled all FSX SP to get back to RTM. I then deleted the entries in WINSxS for all simconnect apart from 60905. I then deleted the entries in the manifests folder (inside the WINSxS folder) for everything apart from 60905.I know this is pretty much what your instructions said (and indeed what I did earlier but I believe it was the errant manifest and security catalog entries that were causing the problem).I then installed SP1 and it correctly entered and created all the right folders for 61242. You will then have entires in WinSxS for both DLLs and matching manifest and catalogs in the manifest folder inside the WINSxS folderNow everything works fine again! If you upgrade to SP2 it should again add the folder for 61259 and the matching entries in the manifests folder (although I have not redone this since I am happy for now on SP1 unless anyone would like to persuade me that this will be fine for ASX and XPAX)I hope this helps, only took me about 10 hours to get it all back in working order.Ian

Hi Guy'sI had this problem when I did a complete clean reinstall of Windows and ALL software. What I eventually found was Windows wasn't loading the Net Framwork versions in the correct order which then impacted on FS.The only way I could correct the issue was manually installing the net farmework packages one at a time in order of release..ie; net 1 , net 1 up-date 2, etc etcAfter Windows was completly up-dated (Without SP3 but thats another story Grrr) I then loaded all my FS software.3 days later...All worked fine.Don't ya just love Windows...where's my Mac...lolRegardsSteve
