Weird Alt settings. Xfered from MSFSX forum...

My bad... didn't make the connection between HIFISIM and Active X... here's the post...Have had a problem several times recently where my Active X weather will give me altimeter settings WAY too low... like 26.60 or even 25.40... unless I happen to be flying through a Cat 5 hurricane, there should never be altimeter settings that low. Most acft can't even adjust to that reading.Any suggestions? You answered:The active weather station giving you these readings.Your plane being used.Any setting being used in FSUIPC?My answers:Last night was New York Center flying into JFK and also Oakland center flying into SMF (Sacramento). I'm using the free version of FSUIPC v 4.26.Because I use Radar Contact the info was forwarded through them. RC states that they just use the info from the wx addon. Also, I get the same really low readings when I hit the "B" key to autoset the alt. Thanks for the help and I apologize for posting in the wrong forum.Jeff EvansRocklin, California, USAMicrosoft Flight Simulator X, SP1RC,PMDG,LVLD,Super80,Active Sky,MYTraffic,FSC82.20 gigahertz Intel Core2 Duo64 kilobyte primary memory cache2048 kilobyte secondary memory cacheWindows Vista Home Premium3070 Megabytes Installed MemoryRadeon X1300/X1550 Series Radeon X1300/X1550 Series Secondary DELL SE198WFP

Hi Jeff,Thaks for re-posting here. We like to keep the General Forums clear of support posts, if possible. One thing I want you to try is a flight without Radar Contact and see what happens then. Was it just RC reporting these low readings or was the barometer on your plane also reporting these readings? Please let us know.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Thanks, Jim. It doesn't happen often... in fact probably only once in 10 flights or so, so it wouldn't really help to not use RC. The bad altimeter reading is not just through RC, it's the actual barometer reading because when I press "B" to reset the altimeter, it goes to the lowest setting available on that aircraft. In most aircraft that's around 28.9. The problem is that since I can't set the altimeter to such a low setting I keep getting chastised by the controller that I'm busting my altitude. I also end up showing around 5,000 feet while I'm using my nose wheel to plow the nearest field. It's not an extremely big deal because it doesn't happen often and in most cases it corrects itself before I get to final approach but I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced it or if you guys were aware of it.It's happened with 737PIC, 767PMDG and LEVELD 767.Also, didn't have SP3 installed. Just installed it now. I'll let you know if it makes a difference. Thanks again.

Just completed flight to SFO. About 30 nm east of Dyblo started getting altimeter readings of 25.75, 25.66 etc. Since the LevelD767 altimeter will not go below 27.00 I had real problems.Any idea what's happening.
