I have been a user of ASv6.5 anf FS9 for some time without any problems but due to purchasing a new computer have moved to FSX(SP2) and ASX(SP3).I have noticed two problems, flying VFR at about 3000ft the ground can be very clear then suddenly the screen flickers slightly and there is a thin layer of mist over the ground shortly afterwards it flickers again and its crystal clear again. I'm not going through cloud unless it has suddenly popped up in front of me.Secondly, I have wind smoothing checked in a registered version of FSUIPC but the wind sometimes oscilates quite badly, recently between 260 - 007 degs with the nose of the aircraft trying to follow as this wouldn't stop I had to reboot FSX.I'm sure its only a setting I've got wrong, any help appreciated.Glen

Hi Glen,The first issue may be the visibility issue in FSX, where it jumps in and out.The second issue, wind shifts, is something we and Pete and others have been working against for a very long time now. With the regestered version of FSUIPC you can adjust how fast those changes are happening so you might look to experiment there.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Hi Glen & JimI think this is the same issue as in this topic...have a sqizz at it.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...40035&mode=fullJust a quick one while I'm here Jim. Is HiFi planning to release a version where we don't need things like FSUIPC? Nothing against Peter's program (It is great) but with SimConnect can't we now incorperate some of these add-on WX wind shift and smoothing functions within ASX to stop having all these seperate processes running? ASX should be able to function fully as a stand alone program without the need of FSUIPC to stablize it?As I said, not having a go just wondering why as it were.. :)RegardsSteve

Changing the fsuipc smoothing options does not help with this, but I've found that if you disable wind smoothing in fsuipc when it happens and return to the sim the problem goes away, and you can then enable wind smoothing again. No need to restart FSX.It was reported to Pete a while ago, but so far I've not managed to remember to grab the files that he needs to troubleshoot it. It's something like once per ten flights so not a big deal.I'm using FSX and I've seen it with both ASX sp2 and ASX sp3. I never fly withouth ASX so I can't say if it occours without.Tom

Hi TomI think it is a combination of things and of-course depends on what

If you want to keep it simple just stick to FSX without any addons :)I admit it can be a pain to put all the pieces together right sometimes, but I can't imagine that Microsoft (or any other large, single vendor) could be anywhere near as creative as all the many, small companies that develop flightsim addons. And MS probably realizes this themselves, otherwise why create an SDK?So I'm happy to buy great products like ASX and FSUIPC and accept the occasional hiccup - especially since both Hifi and Pete Dowson are really good at supporting their products.Tom

Sounds like your after something for free with that post Tom hummmm...ROFL...JJHey, Just a wish list on my behalf, thats all.. :) One day I might be lucky, but as you said, I doubt it. As far as MS doing something nice for us that will never happen. The support I have found with PMDG and HiFi is second to none but poor old Pete is a bit slow as far as I see from the forums? I don't use FSUIPC for anything anyway as SimConnect will connect all my equipment nicely (At least MS got something nearly right) lol, and as far as ASX relying on FSUIPC for the wind shift timing I have ajusted the data myself (With the help from lots of others) so she works great without it.The reason I don't like all the extra add-ons (If you can achive the same thing with existing software) is, as you well know, it "boggs" the computer down with all the extra processes etc and FS is very CPU intensive as it is. But anyway, like everything in life it's what you like that's most important, not what other like...See...It's all about you Tom...lol....JJMy system is working fantastic now after the help from countless people so i'm very happy. I just hope I can contribute as well to pay back the favours. :)Anyways, great to catch up and hopfully I wont need to post any issues of my own on here ...maybe...lolPS.. Except, where the h*** is the user guide for ASX B1160...Is there one or just the old one?Cheers TomSteve
