July 15, 200817 yr Hello All,Im having a recurring issue the past few days and I was wondering if anyone could help. I am attempting to depart VTBS enroute to YSSY and for some reason my PMDG 744 struggles to make FL310. I noted that the temperature for the area at FL300 should be around -22C or so, and is being depicted as -3. With that being said, maintaining cruise speed at FL310 is nearly impossible, especially if there is a TS in the area. Clearing all WX through a registered copy of FSUIPC cleares all issues, but refresing the WX through AS brings me back to square one. By the way, this is with and without using VATSIM weather selected, and with a flight plan entered into AS.Now for the usual stuff:FSUIPC-registeredA/C-not overweight and correctly trimmedFS9.1Win XP Pro with SP3Plenty of RAM, HDD space, etc.My .ini://ASv6.5 configuration file Build 552[General]WindowPosX = 495WindowPosY = 495DefaultWeatherFolder = D:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9ModulesASv6SuppressionCeiling = 10000SurfaceWindLimit = 10FS9Path = D:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFlight Simulator 9PersonalAppDataFolder = C:Documents and SettingsAllan BurekApplication DataCloudLayerLimit = 5LocalSuppressionRange = 100MinimumVisibility = 0MaximumVisibility = 59LastPlanFolder = C:Documents and SettingsAllan BurekMy DocumentsFlight Simulator FilesAutoVasFrequency = 30AutoVasStrength = 30TurbulenceFrequency = DefaultStartupLocation = KSEADefaultGraphicsFullTheme = Wx-InfluencedDefaultGraphicsCirrusTheme = Wx-InfluencedAutoSubmitGraphicsTheme = TrueIncreasedWake = TrueDisableWindsAloft = FalseForcePrimaryServer = TrueForceSecondaryServer = FalseGEProAutoSubmit = FalseUseFetchedStationforGEPro = TrueShowDecodedMBasDecimal = FalseSkyOverride = GEPROFavorCumulus = FalseForceRoutePressure = FalseForceLowestCeiling = FalseUnpauseOnReadyStatus = FalseDisableWriteThrottle = FalseDisableProcessThrottle = FalseForceTstormsWithCB = TrueAutoSetFSTime = TrueIgnoreFSLocationUntilReady = TrueAutoConvertPlanFiles = TrueAutoRefreshAI = TrueDisableVisGraduation = FalseEnableGEProWideFSMode = FalseExtendedThrottling = FalseForceRouteAloftTemp = FalseOfflinePlayback = FalseEnableVAS = TrueAutoGenVAS = TrueForceDestinationWeatherZone = FalsePreventIcing = FalseOnlineUpdates = TrueExtendedDestinationWindsForce = FalseDisableAllGroundUpdates = FalseGlobalWrites = FalseDepictFS9HazeLayer = TrueExtendTstormLayers = TrueDisableDirectWindControl = FalseVoicePlayback = TrueLocalSuppression = TrueStartupSound = TrueDisableGroundUpdates = FalseUseProxyServer = FalseFogLayerGeneration = TrueUpdateSuppression = TrueOvercastEnhancement = TrueIgnoreFSReadyStatus = TrueFSUIPCWindSmoothing = TrueLimitSurfaceWinds = FalseLimitCloudLayers = TrueAutoGlobalWriteToggle = TrueRainWithTS = TrueDisableUpperLayerGeneration = FalseVisibilitySmoothing = TrueDisableMessages = FalseAutoTimeZoneDetection = TrueUpdateInterval = 10VATSIMData = TrueZuluConversion = -4AloftPredictability = 100WindDriftRate = 0MaxCloudThickness = 10000MinStratusSeparation = 7000TAFProcessing = FalseEnforceVisibilityLimits = TrueWakeTurb = TrueStartPaused = FalseUseSystemTime = TrueDisableCAVOKClouds = FalseProxyAddress = NONEPhoto showing what Im talking about. July 15, 200817 yr Commercial Member Alan, your TAT is +2 not your OAT.... in case you dont know, TAT is the tempreture of the aircrafts skin... faster you go the higher it is. For OAT check your Progress 2 page.CheersRob Rob Prest
July 15, 200817 yr Author Thanks for the heads up Rob. I got myself confused in the troubleshooting process. Still, at that altitude does it not seem a tad high? Allan Burek
July 15, 200817 yr Commercial Member depends where your flying, I dont think it's that strange since your not over Europe or North America. Your OAT is probably around -15c to -20cRob Rob Prest
July 15, 200817 yr Author SAT is -33 at the moment. I was kind of hoping that this was the cause of the aircraft not being able to maintain airspeed in cruise. After going through some turbulence I have such a hard time not stalling. I guess its over to the PMDG forums for some help...so frustrating. Allan Burek
July 15, 200817 yr Commercial Member Whenever I hit heavy turbulence I switch to continuous thrust on the thrust limit page. When I'm back in clear air I switch back to crz. Also I'm sure you do already but make sure you are operating at or near optimum crz alt! good luck :)Rob Rob Prest
July 15, 200817 yr Author Yeah, Im close to optimum, just slightly below the FMCs recommendation. Thanks for the speedy replys! Allan Burek
