July 25, 200817 yr I've read the manual but remain confused. Should I take very category individually, set it to Weather-Influenced, and then send it to FS? Or, should I make the selection for each category and then click "send to FS" to send all categories at the same time? And, since I'm running AS6.5 and ASG on my notebook computer, networked to my desktop where FS9 resides, how do the graphics change due to weather infuence? From what I read in the manual, changes are made before or when FS9 loads, so how does this work if AS6.5 gathers the wx after FS9 is running? 'Hope this isn't too confusing of a question, but maybe you'll get the gist of it. I'm sorry I don't understand, but thanks so much for your help!!!!
July 26, 200817 yr Hi,OK here goes!On the AS Options page under Graphics, check the Enable ASG Auto-Submit box. Then use those 2 browse buttons and browse to the Wx-Influenced.thm and those titles now appear in the 2 windows. Then click on Save and Close. Now you never need to go to the AS Graphics program again. When you start AS, BEFORE you start FS04, wx-influenced textures will be sent across your network to FS, which is still CLOSED! Now, if you enter a flight plan into AS, a new set of wx-influenced textures, based on the average weather on your route, will be sent to FS.Now you can start FS and fly. At this point the only textures anyone can change are the Cirrus textures, so if you want different textures for a second, third or fourth flight, you must close FS and let AS submit a whole new set of textures.I hope this answers your questions! If not, then just ask some more and I'll be happy to answer them!!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 26, 200817 yr Author Jim.I think we're getting closer! But I'm still have trouble. I have Auto-Submit and Wx-Influenced checked. I open AS on the notebook, it downloads current weather, and then I open a saved flight plan from the desktop computer and process that. Of course AS shows that FS is disconnected. At what point do I start WideFS? If I start WideFS before FS9 is loaded, it shows it's awaiting a connection and doesn't recognize when FS9 is loaded. I have also tried doing as I used to do and started WideFS after FS9 is running (only starting FS9 after the above AS procedure is done). At first AS still shows FS9 as disconnected even though it is connected, and when it does recognize FS9 as active and updates the wx, it doesn't transfer it to FS9. I don't think anything is being sent over to FS the way I'm doing it?What step am I missing? Thanks,Chuck
July 26, 200817 yr Hi,Open ASG and on the options page is your FS9 path correct? We don't need WideFS running to submit textures as we submit textures across the network in a traditional file sharing way. Then after that start WideFS in whatever order works for you.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 26, 200817 yr Author Yes, the path appears to be correct: "Flight Simulator 9 on DESKTOP". I'm assuming this is the correct path because when I select something is AG and click "Send to FS", it shows that it's submitting and the result is "Submit Successful! FS2004 will depict these slections on launch (or re-launch)".Would you clarify though? You indicate I should run AS6.5, including the flight planning, before opening FS9? At some point I have to open WideFS for FS9 to interact - but when I open WideFS and FS9 AFTER AS6.5 is already running, it seems AS6.5 doesn't realize that FS is "active" and so the FS weather stays clear and doesn't show the current conditions. That's my confusion.(I'm sorry I'm so dense on this).
July 27, 200817 yr Hi,Correct, run AS before opening FS9.So is there any order you can start things that allows FS and AS to communicate?Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
July 27, 200817 yr Author Jim,I appreciate your help, and your patience. Things are working great now. I run AS including the flight planning and can see AS sending the textures/update to FS. Then I close AS, open WideFS and then FS and finally AS once again. I re-enter the flight plan and everything is "good to go" as the weather-influenced textures have already been sent to FS.Thanks again,Chuck
