August 25, 200817 yr Having just got back online again with the release of SB4, relatively consistent weather of course is needed. I have noticed on a couple of occasions now a fundamental disagreement in weather comditions between ASX, Real World and Vatsim. For instance right now I'm on my way into KMIA with the following METAR's.Vatsim: KMIA 251453Z 12007KT 10SM FEW030 SCT050 SCT250 31/23 A2995 RMK AO2 SLP143 T03060228 51009ADDS:Output produced by METARs form (1602 UTC 25 August 2008)found at http://adds.aviationweather.gov/metars/index.php KMIA 251553Z 12011KT 10SM FEW030 SCT250 31/23 A2995 RMK AO2 SLP142 T03110228ASX:KMIA 251453Z 26207KT 10SM FEW030 SCT050 SCT250 31/23 A2995 RMK AO2 SLP143 RMK SFCWINDDIR CHANGED FROM 120 FOR SMOOTHING RMK INTERPOLATEDKMIA 251120Z 251212 11009KT P6SM VCSH SCT025 BKN070 FM1300 13008KT P6SM VCSH SCT030 SCT070 FM1700 13012KT P6SM VCTS SCT030CB SCT070 FM2000 13010KT P6SM SCT030 Of concern is the direct conflict apparently introduced by smoothing. Automatic updates are of course turned on but why would it directly conflict like it is? Should I turn off smoothing in ASX and just use FSUIPC instead? Thoughts? August 25, 200817 yr Hi Jay,If you are using VATSIM weather do not use that smoothing option, because as you see, ASX might change the ground data. Then you will be off from the VATSIM weather. Yes, this is the result of that smoothing option and better to use the latest version of FSUIPC.Thanks!!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
August 27, 200817 yr Author I use RW weather, with ASX smoothing off, conflicts are gone. Thank you,Jay EklundCAT VI Senior Captain KDENhttp://online.vatsimindicators.net/812321/764.png Jay EKlund UVA/GCVA Pile-it
