A couple of questions regarding Active Sky X

Recommended Posts

Hi All,I've just read through the blurb on the Hi-Fi website regarding Active Sky X and I have a couple of questions: -1, Presumably ASX replaces the 'real-world' (and also static?) weather system that would normally be generated by FSX? How is this done and how do you have to initialise it in FSX? Do you just change the weather setting in FSX to 'real-word' and everything is taken care of? Or does ASX just run in the background and everything is done automatically? Are there any particular setting that I have to make in FSX in order to get it to work properly?2, How often is the real world weather updated?3, I have Flight Environment X that I use for generating better looking weather in FSX. Is it possible to run ASX (for creating weather data) and FEX (for generating visual weather) together?4, If I query ATIS, will ATIS report the same data that is created by ASX?5, I also have FSUIPC and I noticed that this has some weather optins. Will there be any conflicts with this program? It looks like a really great addon for FSX - looking forward to your response :-)Many thanks in advance,Ed

Hi Ed,Thanks for your interest in ASX!1. ASX weather is automatically initialized in FSX and you will see that FSX weather is set to User Defined, automatically. ASX runs in the background. Just your cloud draw distance and coverage settings.2. By it's nature, weather reports in the real world are updated near the top of every hour. ASX can be set to download weather anywhere from a 10 minute interval to a 60 minute interval.3. Yes, they will work fine together.4. Yes, ATIS will report the ASX weather.5. We suggest default settings and weather settings off in FSUIPC.Hope this answers everything. If not, please write back!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

Hi,Thanks for the purchase!1. Yes, but only using SimConnect, the new MS interface.2. When you save a flight in FSX an small amount of weather is also saved for that flight. So restarting that saved flight would start with the saved weather, but once ASX processed it's new data the weather would switch over to the time/date that you resumed your saved flight.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/

No problem Jim. It looks like being a great addon. However, it would be nice to run it from my laptop over a network to reduce any performance hits on my desktop. Is it not possible to use FSwide?
