September 15, 200817 yr Hi Jim,The AS wxRE server has been providing corrupted and/or unusable METARs for LGGG region (Greece), as it usually does every now and then in the past few years. As usual, with your intervention everything will get back to normal again.Thanks,Sotiris. Sotiris Stavrakis
September 15, 200817 yr Hi,Well, wxRE is still connected to the NOAA data server and I checked here: http://weather.noaa.gov/weather/metar.shtmland NOAA doesn't even have LGGG data. So we'll need to have that station come back online again.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 16, 200817 yr Author Jim, Because of the known issue of LGAT/LGAV wx stations and as I use LGAT only in FS8, I have been using LGEL METARs as best close to LGAT wx for the past two years.(LGAV METARs are significantly different from LGAT ones in reality). There is no city airport like LGGG, I obviously meant Greece FIR.Well, for the past weeks LGEL METARs are corrupted and TAFs are irrelevant to the reality. If I choose offline sets, the AS wxRE is trying to find a valid wx set among Greek Airports, but in vain.Whenever in the past occurred it, your input helped to restore. That's why I send this message. Regards, Sotiris. Sotiris Stavrakis
September 16, 200817 yr Hi,I was able to pull up the LGEL METAR in wxRE and it matched the NOAA METAR and it was the correct time. Yes, the TAF is old, dated 05. What happens for you with LGEL?Thanks, Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 17, 200817 yr Author Jim,That's what I got with ASwxRE this evening: LGEL 171820Z 9999/KT 9999 FEW025 SCT080 23/10 Q1007. Sometimes shows //// instead of 9999.(Wrong syntax resulting to inability to set the weather in FS8). Outdated TAF: (TAF COR LGEL 052200Z 060606 35010KT CAVOK BECMG 1012 35015G25KT). And no usable winds aloft (16716)..trying another station.. NOAA provides the same erroneous syntax, I think it is not a ASwxRE fault.Regards,Sotiris Sotiris Stavrakis
September 18, 200817 yr Hi,OK thanks. We'll need NOAA/the station to fix things. We don't have a direct contact with NOAA anymore.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 18, 200817 yr Author Do you mean that the issue is possible to fix ? Could you expain to me the reason it happens 3-4 times a year ?Sotiris Sotiris Stavrakis
September 19, 200817 yr Hi,If the station fixes it's data then NOAA/wxRE will be fixed. It happens because data is never perfect, equipment mis-reads conditions, breaks down, humans make mistakes.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
September 27, 200817 yr Author Jim,I found out last night that the LGEL wx station issue was corrected by the station on NOAA site. METAR & TAF are back to normal, nevertheless, ASwxRE TAF shown is still old & outdated. Can you fix it ? And, I have installed v1.92.4, could you tell me where to find v1.92.5 ?Thank you,Sotiris. Sotiris Stavrakis
September 27, 200817 yr Hi,OK thanks for the update.TAFS are also through NOAA, so they would have to fix that. Now you see why we went to our personal data server after wxRE.E-Mail me for a link: jim(AT)hifisim.com.Thanks!Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
