October 22, 200817 yr I have had to reinstall my operating system(XP on the desktop) and all files due to a system crash. I network using my notebook with AS6.5 on a notebook. AS6.5 is also installed in "modules" of FS9. When starting AS 6.5 on the notebook I get the following error message: "Error during FS Database check (step 3)...stations may not be properly configured for extended coverage WX description"Any help as to what I don't have set up properly would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
October 22, 200817 yr Hi Chuck,Check you Application Data folder and see if it is shared across the network.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 22, 200817 yr Author Jim, yes I think so. "C:/Documents&Settings/Chuck/Application Data/Microsoft/FS9/" are all shared. In fact, I have a lot "shared" including in my FS9 Modules folder - Active Radar, ASGraphics and ASv6. Other than the original problem, do I have too much shared.
October 22, 200817 yr Hi,From the laptop see if you can browse to the wxstationlist.bin file in that folder from that path you listed.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 22, 200817 yr Author Yes, I can access it with no problem. Actually, I have 2 ways of accessing it through the shared network places - Application Data on DESKTOP as well as Documents&Settings on Desktop.
October 23, 200817 yr Hi,Still looks like a sharing/permission issue. Please go through the network steps again and also make sure that both firewalls are allowing AS access, especially on the main computer where you just reinstalled Windows.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 23, 200817 yr Author Jim,Thank you for working with me on this! As I said, I can see the weatherstationlist.bin from my notebook computer. I created a "rule" in my ESET firewall (on both the desktop and the notebook) directed specifically at this file and have allowed Trusted Zones in and out and Internet In and Out. Yet I still get the message. I've got to be honest and tell you I don't know too much about firewalls, but it would seem that it would "see" the weatherstationlist.bin - especially since I've created a rule for it. Is there something I should set up in FS9 itself?? I'm totally stumped??? ADDED - I just tried to upload a flightplan and that DIDN'T work either - the connection to Documents&Settings didn't work. I think I might have to go back and set up the entire network again???
October 23, 200817 yr Author Jim, Here's the situation. I've completely reworked (reinstalled) my network. I still have the same 2 problems 1) the message regarding the stationlist.bin, and 2) AS6.5 can't find the .pln files located in My DocumentsFlight Simulator Files. I can see both areas perfectly through the network. WideFS works, as does Squawkbox. Other than the initial message about stationlist.bin, AS6.5 sees where I am, and updates and displays the weather correctly. I also eliminated my ESET firewall and am only using the Windows XP firewall since I'm behind a router (desktop is wired, notebook is via wireless). I've got to believe that there's something in the AS6.5 setup, or ini that isn't right. 'Know we can figure this out, but need your help. Thank you!!!!
October 23, 200817 yr Author BTW, I've also shut down both firewalls and that doesn't make any difference.
October 23, 200817 yr Hi,From the laptop computer, please post your ASv6.ini file.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
October 24, 200817 yr Author 'Just got it figured out and fixed!! The path to Personal App folder should have been and is Application Data rather than App Data and the path for flight plans is Flight Simulator Files rather than flight plans. In any event, we're up and running and a great deal of thanks for your help and indulgence.
October 24, 200817 yr Hi,Correct and that is why I asked for that file!!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/banners/hifi-community-sigbanner.jpghttp://www.hifisim.com/
