February 23, 200323 yr Hello Bill, would it be possible to post either on the MAAM site, or in the forum here the routine that Briefing Time flies at airshows? Just a thought for those of us that like to "entertain" virtual spectators sometimes! Thanks again to you, Jan, Fred and Rob for creating such an outstanding aircraft for flightsim. Darrell
February 24, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi Darrell,Good idea!OK. Having been priviledged to fly along on several different types of air shows, let me give you four that you might like to perform. You can see parts of these on the training videos, and even more on the Multi-Media CD. Give me a little time to set things up, and I'll get back to you here. I may need to enlist the bosses help on this - that's Russ Strine, MAAM President and 'BT's pilot. February 28, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hi DarrellYour idea is going to turn into a full-blown product, or products. What I thought I would do is get some details from Russ, then produce some diagrams showing 'BT's parking position on the field and a chart of the airport environs showing the flight path of the demonstration. I suggested this to Russ and he thought it sounded OK, but then today he expanded the idea. His suggestion was to take you through an airshow briefing, just as he and the other pilots do, before each show. We'll put that in the form of a briefing, like the one that appears before the "Doolittle Raid Re-enactment" flight that comes with the BT package. So, for each show, we'll give you a start-up situation that places 'BT' at the correct spot on the ramp, sets the right date and actual weather in which the show took place. The time will be set for five minutes prior to your assigned engine cranking time, so you can go through the checklists. You will follow the instructions contained in the briefing, which we will also provide as a printable document. Diagrams and charts will show the flight path you should take, and Russ will explain the show routine you should perform. We'll probably add a few wrinkles as we go along, then post each "'Briefing Time' Air Show Flight" as a freeware file. Our plan is to issue four of the air show flights depicted in the B-25J 'Briefing Time' Multi-Media CD. These include:Top Cover Mission for the restored Liberty Ship U.S.S. Brown, 2002.Liberation of Reading at the 2002 MAAM World War II Weekend Show.Fly-bys at the 2001 New Garden Air Show.Doolittle Raid Re-enactment - dry land style - at the 2002 Frederick, Maryland "Wings of Freedom" Air Show.I think these are going to be great fun, and I'm looking forward to working with Russ to put them together. Thanks for the idea. I'll let you know when we have the first one ready to upload. For everyone - I would suggest that, if these sound like your cup of tea, you might want to order the $10 Multi-Media CD from www.maam.org now so you will be ready to go. Remember, there is a two-CD package deal that saves you $4.95 over the individual CD and shipping charges. February 28, 200323 yr Bill, This is a great idea! I'm already there with the 2 CD set on order. :-) Maybe I'll build a grandstand for the scenery!Best, Rob
February 28, 200323 yr HI Bill, I'm glad to see my idea "took off" :) I can't wait to try them out. I've always wondered what goes on behind the scenes so to speak at an airshow. By the way, I have done a couple of night flights in Briefing Time now and the lighting both interior and exterior is great!! Darrell
