>Now you are teasing me with these new cloud shots. The>dynamic shine looks fantastic in the first shot. Thanks,Mark, she does look nice in FS9. The only thing i'm missing is Active Camera, particularly the Fly_By feature. I really hope the Anticyclone guys are working on FS9 compatibillity right now! Can't do without it anymore ! :D>I'm sorry, my description of 'spot' lights it was a bit silly.> I was trying to describe the additional map lights in the 2D>panel, that were disabled when FS2002 came along.Ahh,yes, miss that too ! That was really wonderfull, wasn't it! But that's Bill's department really. Maybe if you'd ask him nicely...(-:>Your picture of the VC is spot on. I was wondering if you>were able to change the overall pink colour to a more>yellowish white one, to match the 2D lighting. :) (I was>hoping ACOF would let you if you can't at the moment)It's actually the 2D panel light color which can be adjusted to some extend from within the panel.cfg, afaik not the VC light. This may be different with FS9, haven't investigated yet but certainly will.>As for the auto pilot, dropping the modern one sounds so good>to me, I don't like the thing. >>At the moment I always seem to get the rapid and violent>elevator movement (in spot view) not matter what settings I>use on the Sperry. I never use the modern version.I cannot reproduce this behaviour.Maybe someone else has a clue ??....>She flies ok mind you :) :)>>Thanks for you hard work, its breath taking as usual.Thank you,Mark, appreciate it !Best Regards,Jan

What can I say, it looks beauuuuutiiiful, Jan, Bill et al! I see a pair of C-47s almost every day that fly freight to Catalina from here in Long Beach. Boy are they nice to see and hear, and i'm looking forward to the sound set for your lady. Jan, may I raise a few nitpicks(sorry, there's no big probs to deal with! :-lol ) First, the leading edge of the vertical stab seems a bit flat(squared off would be a better way to say it, I think). Secondly, could you take the time to cut out the tailwheel area(the cut out where the tailwheel can arc fore and aft as weight is put on it)? The landing gear retract forks seem a little thin. Could you thicken them a little bit? Also one last thing that would be nice would be to have the rudder hinges in place on the tail, and the appropriate areas of the existing rudder removed so that they could be there. Anyrate, it is more than a fine model already. Important thing is that it flies nice and the panel is good, and knowing you guys, i'll be resting assured they will be darned close to the real thing. :D If you want a couple more useless cents, what would be really cool is if you gave this lady a pair of Wright Cyclones and a pair of Edo floats. ;-) But, that going a little too far...Hehe i'd be more than happy to give you guys a hand on a B-17 or B-29 project! :D BTW, did you guys get any a/c from Chino or Valle at the WWII weekend?

Very Nice!

Goedemorgen Jan,"The only thing i'm missing is Active Camera, particularly the Fly_By feature. I really hope the Anticyclone guys are working on FS9 compatibillity right now! >What can I say, it looks beauuuuutiiiful, Jan, Bill et al! Thanks a lot,Christopher!>Jan, may I raise a few nitpicks(sorry, there's no big probs to>deal with! :-lol ) First, the leading edge of the vertical>stab seems a bit flat(squared off would be a better way to say>it, I think).Correct! Bill bumped into it with the cherry-picker while shooting the top down photo's... :( Will be mended,Sir!>Secondly, could you take the time to cut out>the tailwheel area(the cut out where the tailwheel can arc>fore and aft as weight is put on it)? Ah,yes, been thinking about that too. Will cost quite a few poly's but i'll see if i can fit it in.>The landing gear>retract forks seem a little thin. Could you thicken them a>little bit? Right again,i guess i've been waiting for someone to notice... ;-) A little more sturdy the're gonna be! >Also one last thing that would be nice would be>to have the rudder hinges in place on the tail, and the>appropriate areas of the existing rudder removed so that they>could be there. Something like this ? :http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/21451.jpgLittle difficult to see but here the rudder is deflected to port. In fact this is already the same on the current R4D model. It's only that later on i noticed on the real DC-3 that the rudder hinges from the outer part of the hinges, not the inner like on the current model.>If you want a couple more useless cents, what would be really>cool is if you gave this lady a pair of Wright Cyclones and a>pair of Edo floats. ;-) But, that going a little too>far...As for the Cyclones, closer then you think....there already fitted on the current model. :-) http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/21466.jpgHaven't been able to finish the Eastern livery so it never got uploaded but Mark Beaumont did a lovely Delta livery for it which you can download right here from the file library (dc3delta.zip ).As for them Edo floats....yep, that just *might* be going a bit too far because somehow it just doesn't feel right to me, a DC-3 on floats.... :-erks ;-) But you never know if a cow can't catch a hare ( old dutch saying... ;-) ) Thanks very much for your input, Christopher, highly appreciated !Best Regards,Jan

LOL Sounds great, Jan! I did not know that the "current" one is with a pair of Wrights. :-roll Thought they were the twin wasps. You've seen photos of the XC-47C and the few number of conversions with floats, right? Pretty handly, since they made the a/c amphibious, but dropped the cruise speed 30 mph, supposedly, and the a/ccould only land on flat water.Rudder looks great. :D Looks like you have the rudder hinge itself in there. Ever thought of a Super DC-3(more stretching, but slighly more practical lol)? Well, i'm happy you appreciated the input, Jan. Thanks. I have to commend you guys on a great addon that won't make me guilty at all when I get it! :-lol

>LOL Sounds great, Jan! I did not know that the "current">one is with a pair of Wrights. :-roll Thought they were the>twin wasps. Well, it's just an addition to the current flight of DC-3 models based on the R4D. Regarding the Wright equipped DC-3, it's really just the nacelles which are different compared to the P&W's but if all goes like we have in mind for the GMax version the difference will also be noticable in the flight characteristics this time around. >You've seen photos of the XC-47C and the few>number of conversions with floats, right? Pretty handly,>since they made the a/c amphibious, but dropped the cruise>speed 30 mph, supposedly, and the a/ccould only land on flat>water.sure i've seen the photo's and i didn't like what i saw... ;-) I just think these big boats underneath spoil the gracious look of my beloved, precious Dakota. As an FS visual model designer you can imagine 'looks' is all what's important to me. ;-)>Rudder looks great. :D Looks like you have the rudder hinge>itself in there. >>Ever thought of a Super DC-3(more stretching, but slighly more>practical lol)? Same thing applies here. Super Connie ?, ok then but i still like the L049 and L749 best, but 'Super' DC-3 ??.....Nah...i really hate that big barndoor there at the tail.... :-erks ;-)>Well, i'm happy you appreciated the input, Jan. Thanks. I>have to commend you guys on a great addon that won't make me>guilty at all when I get it! :-lolOn the contrary,Christopher, your suggestions *are* very much appreciated and will make it a little bit your model too when you'll see the more sturdy retracting forks, the tailwheel cutout and rounded off vstab edge with your name on 'm. :-) Btw, all taken care of already. :-coolBest Regards,Jan

Hi there Jan,A couple of posts ago, we had a chat about the pink glow in the VC. You posted a sceen shot if you remember.Well, Andrew Herd has just posted part 3 of his articles over on Flightsim.com and he has included a great night time screen shot of the Lockheed Vega's VC. Guess what the Orange glow has at least changed colour to be more in keeping :)Maybe there is hope yet ;)RegardsMark

>Well, Andrew Herd has just posted part 3 of his articles over>on Flightsim.com and he has included a great night time screen>shot of the Lockheed Vega's VC. If you ask me, Mark, i think the FS9 default VC's ( of the new vintage planes ) look quite fantastic, but not as fantastic as that ! Nah...., that's a screenshot of the Vega's 2D panel at night ( notice the secondary panels clickable icon's ? you won't get those in the VC just yet.. ) But you're right about the night lighting, it's lovely (imho) both in the 2D panel and VC. Here's what the Vega VC looks like at night : http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/22618.jpgNot bad,huh...( while this shot obviously doesn't do it justice )btw, there's two Vega's, one is the Winnie Mae as flown by Wiley Post ( Andrew's shot ) and a red painted Vega 5B as flown by Amelia Earhart ( picture above ).Sorry, no, shot of the R4D VC in FS9 at night yet but we're working on it.:-cool best regards,Jan

Well, I see we have some differences of opinion, Jan! :-lol No worries, The only other crazy DC-3 idea I had was a XCG-17, the glider version, but I think that would be another waste of time! :-lol I do agree partially with the XC-47C, it does dirty up the lines of the three. A slightly more logical derivative if you ever make a Cyclone version is a DST, but I guess you could just texture on the extra windows anyhow. Anyrate, I appreciate that you guys aren't stuck up enough to take suggestions or constructive criticism. I'm a begginning modeler(started as a painter about 2 years ago) and have been having a wonderful time working a on a B-307(no sarcasm), so I can really appreciate how much effort it takes to turn out a good, accurate appearing model that performs well and flies correctly(is sure must help ahving a guy wround who has flown one!). :DSo, i'll be ready with my paintbrush to paint the two Catalina Flying Boats C-47s that I see flying almsot every day when you guys decide that this lady is done. The sounds of those Twin Wasps is wonderful, actually pleasing to the ears, in fact. :D
