June 15, 200322 yr The GMax R4D, the plane that never got released but still gets updated...i believe a first in the history of FS...:+ Hi folks,Here are a couple screenies of the work at hand on the GMax R4D visual model upgrade. To celebrate the long overdue release ( coming September), and take along the Century Of Flight celebrations on the side ( afterall she WILL be FS9COF compatible! ), i have taken the ol' polish cloth to lively up 819's skin so she can take part in the festivities shining proudly. Apart from all the commonly known GMax features including reflective textures also specular highlighting/dynamic shine has been added.Mind you, this is a preview of work in progress, check back for more update shots and maybe a preview of some additional liveries later. In the meantime i hope you'll enjoy this peek at what's going on behind the MAAM-SIM hangar's door. :-cool Jan VisserMAAM-SIMhttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4d_bma1.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4dbma_2.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4dbma_3.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4dbma_4.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4dbmax5.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4dgmx6.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4dbmax7.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4dbmax8.jpghttp://www.avsim.com/~maamdev/r4dbmax10.jpg
June 16, 200322 yr You're killing me Jan !! I have all the goodies in place to fly the R4D now and do it justice..now I just need the uhhh, R4D!! Mike B. http://home.bellsouth.net/p/s/community.dl...view=thumbs&ck=
June 18, 200322 yr Looking good Jantje! She sure looks in better state than the real one that I had a close up of at the WW2 weekend, She was so covered in bird droppings on the tailplane that she was moved way over the other side of the display line for the show. This is the "clean end"CheersTimhttp://forums.avsim.com/user_files/17575.gif
June 18, 200322 yr Looks really great Jan, also the pics on the MAAM pages.Question is, will there be an upgrade for existing users or do we have to purchase it anew ?BTW, do the prop blades turn as well ? when u adjust the angle ?Like in FSDs Seneca V ?Maddy[p][link:www.maddys-tours.org][/p]Athlon 1GhzAsus K7VT512MB SDRAM PC133GF3 Ti200SB-LivePlatinumWinXP pro / Suse Linux 7.2DSL Connection 768kb/s down / 128kb/s upFS2002pro

June 19, 200322 yr >Looking good Jantje! Thanks,Timmy ;-)>She sure looks in better state than the>real one that I had a close up of at the WW2 weekend, She was>so covered in bird droppings on the tailplane that she was>moved way over the other side of the display line for the>show.Yes, noticed that too on the new photo's i got from Bill to do the current state textures. Need's a lot of touching up! (-: Actually the bare-metal state is not fictictious, it's how 819 must've looked when first delivered. Nice piccie of the ol' gal's nose !Best Regards,Jan
June 19, 200322 yr >Looks really great Jan, also the pics on the MAAM pages. Thanks,Maddy !>Question is, will there be an upgrade for existing users >or do we have to purchase it anew ?That's something Bill will have to answer. One thing you can be sure of though, it can hardly be called an 'upgrade' , it's an almost completely new model ( with VC of course ),new textures, and will feature a completely new 2D panel/gauges, flightmodel and soundsuite. I think this'll partly answer your question..x:-) >BTW, do the prop blades turn as well ? when u adjust the angle>?>Like in FSDs Seneca V ?Mmm, i'll have to see about that. Not sure yet how much worked is involved. Personally i don't see it has much of a significant animation. Only visible when the prop is still.. i wonder how many people will notice.. If it doesn't mean too much of hassle to add it, you've got it. How about trade it for a turning trim wheel in the VC ?...:( Best Regards,Jan

Much prefer to see the turning trim wheel in the VC!RegardsTim
June 26, 200322 yr Catch da Ball Bill ;)BTW, do you guys consider doing something bigger ?B17 or B29 that quality of the B25 be just great :)Dunno if MAAM got something like that in stock ...but hey, some pilots of those must still be alive ...at least yet[p][link:www.maddys-tours.org][/p]Athlon 1GhzAsus K7VT512MB SDRAM PC133GF3 Ti200SB-LivePlatinumWinXP pro / Suse Linux 7.2DSL Connection 768kb/s down / 128kb/s upFS2002pro
June 27, 200322 yr Commercial Member The biggest thing we have at MAAM, and one I would love to do when its restored and flying, is the C-119 "Flying Boxcar'. But I keep telling people if they donate a plane to MAAM, we'll promise to do a sim, but so far nobody has come through! ;-) So get the CAF to give us 'Fifi' and we'll do your Super Fort. I see Memphis Belle is still on the field, never having departed after WW2 Weekend. If we shove it in our hangar under cover of darkness and play innocent...:-halo Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Hamblyhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
June 27, 200322 yr Jan,She looks beautiful, but have you got any news of the 2D Cockpit and the VC?I'm thinking of things like:Cowl Flaps open and close from the cockpit switches. The spot lights all work again. The autopilot doesn't move the elevator like a demented dolphin and make the yoke flail back and forth in the VC.and what about the problem of pink lights in the VC?Also, will there be any re-paints like before?Trade Winds Domestic may be?I can't wait to start operations in FS9. The thought of flying her through its clouds and improved weather is making my mouth water. :-)RegardsMark
July 1, 200322 yr Mark,>I'm thinking of things like:>>Cowl Flaps open and close from the cockpit switches.Yessir, both from the 2D panel and VC alike. On top of that the propblades will also turn in conjunction with both the 2D panel and VC proppitch levers, from high speed to full feathered, and there's a semi 'free castering' tailwheel.>The spot lights all work again. Not sure what you mean with 'spot lights' ??>The autopilot doesn't move the elevator like a demented>dolphin and make the yoke flail back and forth in the VC.Afaik it'll be the Sperry only in the new version. ( first turn all Sperry adjustment wheels to zero before using the 'modern' AP in the current version ) >and what about the problem of pink lights in the VC?Last time i looked it looked like this :http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/20159.jpgNo pink lights here.. You can adjust the lights in the VC more or less within in the aircraft.cfg (lights). (position only ) Can you upload a screenshot of those 'pink lights' maybe ? >Also, will there be any re-paints like before?>Trade Winds Domestic may be?You bet ! :-cool>I can't wait to start operations in FS9. July 1, 200322 yr Okay Bill, so why didn't ya address the question earlier in this thread about an upgrade pricing policy for those of us that already bought the full up R4D6? ;)I figure there should be some kind of discount at least for previous donors to MAAM -- expecially if we also donated for Briefing Time.Racartronit means something, but I just can't remember what
July 2, 200322 yr JanNow you are teasing me with these new cloud shots. The dynamic shine looks fantastic in the first shot.I'm sorry, my description of 'spot' lights it was a bit silly. I was trying to describe the additional map lights in the 2D panel, that were disabled when FS2002 came along.Your picture of the VC is spot on. I was wondering if you were able to change the overall pink colour to a more yellowish white one, to match the 2D lighting. :) (I was hoping ACOF would let you if you can't at the moment)As for the auto pilot, dropping the modern one sounds so good to me, I don't like the thing. At the moment I always seem to get the rapid and violent elevator movement (in spot view) not matter what settings I use on the Sperry. I never use the modern version. She flies ok mind you :) :)Thanks for you hard work, its breath taking as usual.RegardsMark
