FS9( upgrade(Engine sounds)

Featured Replies

Upgrade works perfect ,even the fssoundDLL 1.6 .(running in win xp pro), there is only one small problem Im still having. When pulling back the power to 35" and 2400rpm from TO power there is no audible change to the engine rpms, this did not occur in fs2002. does anyone else have this problem? I dont hear an engine tone change till I go back to around 27" or 2200 rpm other than this its just as good as in fs2002.

Yes tim Im pulling it back to 35" @ 2400rpm to climb, in fs2002 there is a fairly large change in engine sound and pitch when going from "TO" power to climb, When I pull back the power and prop for cruise the engine then changes pitch. It seems going from max "TO" power 44" @ 2600 rpm to 35" @ 2400 there should be a significant change in engine noise. Mine doesn't, although like I said it works in fs2002. This was one of the original problems when installing the b25 into fs2004, just curious if its just me.

WallaceHmmm, Strange. I get a slight change in the sound as I reduce the pitch to 30-35" and reduce to climb power. Maybe it is your end. I know the sounds were not changed in the upgrade so it maybe the interaction between the new air files/cfg and the sounds. I flew in the real BT a couple of months ago during the AVSIM convention and cos it's so noisy, you have to wear ear defenders even if you are not on a radio headset. Believe me with that and the intercom, you don't hear suble changes in engine pitch at all. It's all RAW NOISE! :-)Tim http://www.spottedantelope.com/bwomack/ima...aam-sim_sig.gif

Hi all, I also noticed this glitch in engine sounds. In FS2002, I didn't need to even look at my MAN pressure gauge, I knew where it was by the pitch of the engines. In FS9, there is now no difference in engine sounds from 48" down to about 35", or a little less. Even with the throttle back, I don't hear the change til the RPM is at or below 2400. Maybe someone will take this fix on as a pet project. I'd be happy to, but I wouldn't know where to start!(If anyone one needs someone to help test some fixes, drop me a note.)Thanks again to MAAM for your support and a wonderful plane!Yours, Randy

"(...) no difference in engine sounds from 48" down to about 35", or a little less. Even with the throttle back, I don't hear the change til the RPM is at or below 2400 (...)"Something similar over here: it's mainly the (lower range) RPM settings that change the engine sounds, not the ManP settings. But: that's a vast improvement compared with BEFORE the FS9 upgrade patch, because back then just about NOTHING would change the engine sounds!I'd like to make a compliment to the MAAM Sim team: thank you, guys, for the hours and hours of pleasure your Briefing Time has been giving me, is giving me and will be giving me! The FS9 patch has improved the already very good flight dynamics even more; the engine sounds that may not be "perfect" I can easily live with. It really is the most enjoyable aircraft in my little hangar! In real life I've never piloted anything bigger than Cessna 172 and Piper Cherokee (and that's over a quarter century ago) so I don't actually KNOW if Briefing Time flies sort of "real". But she surely FEELS to me that way!BTW, Bill: what does captain Russ Strine say about flying the sim version of his BT? Does he think it as decently close to the real thing as hardware and software limitations allow? Anyway, I thought this the right time to say how immensely pleased I am with the upgraded Briefing Time. Hat off to you, guys!Jaap Verduijn.

Yep, same problem here. It's better but still not right. The prop controls should make a BIG difference in the engine noise. The prop control will change the FREQUENCY of the sounds (ie: RPM) and the manfifold (throttles) will change the intensity (the "growl" of the engine.) The R4D when it first come out for FS98 had it wired, the power changes were a thing of beauty but as the updates were added that nice feeling of the power changes gradually faded and now it simply doesn't work correctly.. Sad. I have purchased FS Sound Studio in order to "fix" BT but alas the sounds respond just like you would expect them to in the editor. ANY change in throttle instantly results in a engine sound change ??? So dunno what to do now. Does anyone know how the props and throttles in BT are linked? I'm stumped but I am obsessed with getting this one point right...lol Every real world aircraft I have flown (including a DC3) that had constant speed props were VERY sensitive to prop RPM as far as the sounds go.. I really miss pulling the power back on climb out and listening to those big radials "mellow out". Any pointers out there?? Any sucess I have I will gladly share with the world..lol Mike B.
