January 12, 200422 yr Hi everyone,New user question. I recently bought fs2004 and found out about the B-25 addon from the Flight Sim Central site (www.fscentral.com). At that site it says the product will be released soon, but at this time (11 Jan) has yet to be released. Then I found the MAAM web site, and then this site, where all of you people have been talking about flying BT in fs2004 for some time.At the MAAM site, I've established that BT was originally released for fs2002 and that there is a "patch" to make it fs2004 compatible. If I buy the fs2002 version with the fs2004 patch, is it the same thing as the product still unavailalabe from Flight Sim Central?Where do I get the fs2002 version (and the fs2004 patch?) The MAAM site is just super confusing on this point. I've been clicking in circles there and just can't seem to clear up this mystery. This B-25 addon really looks awesome from the stuff I have read and seem at the MAAM site and I am itching to get my hands on the darned thing! Thanks!prb
January 12, 200422 yr Commercial Member You're right. It's past time I got with webmaster Fred P. over at the MAAM website and got it updated. Another item for my growing "to do" list!! Let's clear up the confusion, at least for you. If you order the CD from www.maam.org for $25.00 plus $4.95 shipping, worldwide, you will get both the FS2002 and FS2004 version of 'Briefing Time', along with the videos, vintage manuals, and the rest. Both installation packages include the BT bare-metal version and the Falcon gunship, in addition to the regular livery BT. Take a look here for all the details:http://www.avsim.com/pages/1103/frontpage/briefing_time_cd/No upgrade or patch is required for the new CD. Old, FS2002-only, CD owners can get a free FS9 upgrade from the Avsim file library. You should also grab the B-25J Mitchell Multi-Media CD while you are at it, for just another ten bucks. It's well worth it, and we are about to release a little add-on utility that will make those great vintage manuals you'll find even more useful and easier to use. The same Press Release above will tell you about that, too.Hope this clears the confusion, and we'll try to update the MAAM website ASAP. January 12, 200422 yr Thanks Bill,I think I will just get on the phone and call the fine folks at MAAM and order the CD and the other 10.00 CD. That will probably be the best route at this time. Can't wait! Been flying the "stock" DC-3 to get my "WW II radial engine fix" since I bought the game. The climb speed of the B-25 is faster than the max speed of the old "gooney bird"..! And the screen shots look super!prb
January 12, 200422 yr Shameless Plug.I am not associated with the MAAM team. But, this is one heck of an aircraft. Not to mention the repaints and scenery. Yeah, the scenery -- that little honey stopped me in my tracks. Go for it. Frenchy -- out.
January 13, 200422 yr Ok, tough question. The Nose Art looks great on the ground. Being an old R/C pilot it is good to enjoy the outside of the aircraft. Mostly, I fly it from the inside. Like shifting from the left seat to the right seat to accomplish the things that need to be done. But -- then once she is trimmed out and everything is in order. Out,I go again. Yeah, looking around. One good airplane, this. Don't take my word for it. But, it is one real keeper.Frenchy -- out.
January 14, 200422 yr I'm with you, Frenchy. I spend most of my time driving the planes. That's the fun. But I do like to "get out" and look at 'em every now and then. They do look pretty. At a Madera, CA airshow during the 1980s, watched B-25 do a VERY low level pass at a speed I have never seen a B-25 go, before or since. It was a jaw dropper. What a beautiful ship. The plane you people built for fs2004 looks awesome and I can't wait to get it.prb
January 14, 200422 yr Just sitting back and waiting for you to get your CD. I live in Fallbrook, CA. Ain't seen no B-25's flying. Lots of other awesome stuff flying over head. This here plane will take off where you would not image. She did that in real life --- and land where you would swear she couldn't. She did that in real life. Hope you get your disc real soon. Frenchy -- out.
January 22, 200422 yr There used to be a great WW-II airshow each year in Madera, CA. Lots of great planes. This was during the 1980s. I remember a bright orange P-63 King Cobra, the red and white P-38 from the earstwhile named "Conferderate Air Force". And many other planes, including B-25s.I still have my order for "BT" with Flight Sim Central (dot com). They say "the supplier" (that's you, right?) will start shipping this week. Can't wait!prb
January 22, 200422 yr Commercial Member Well, a bit late now, but no, we are not the supplier of the CD you ordered from Flight Sim Central. That's our contractor, Vmax, who produced the commercially boxed CD for us, or more accurately, one of their customers. You can get the very same package from the museum's on-line store for $25, plus world-wide shipping of $4.95. The only things missing from our package are the fancy box, the extra time in shipping, and extra money you paid. We usually can get it in your hands inside of a week from placing your order, and we ship every day. The museum get's a small royalty out of your purchase from other vendors, such as Flight Sim Central, while it gets the whole $25 from the direct museum shop sales. So, unless you really want that box - and it is a pretty one, if its designer can say so - you should buy it from the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's Online Store at www.maam.org. I don't suppose you can cancel that order, eh?Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, and Womackhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
January 23, 200422 yr Ahh.. Now I understand. I actually called the MAAM store this past Saturday to do just that very thing, but the guy who answered the phone said I should call during the week when there would be somebody there who knew what was going on! Not a direct quote, but pretty close...I'll give Flt Sim Central another weekend, then I'll cancel and get it from the MAAM store. Thanks for the update.prb
