July 2, 200421 yr Hi all,Hope someone could help me with following problem please. When selecting the aircraft, an error message pops up with the statement.."This simulator was unable to load some aircraft or software. You can continue using F?S but this Aircraft or software will be disabled"File: GaugesMAAM_b25.GAU. End quote! So far what i have done, was to load the updated patch BT_FS9.ZIP when it was released some time ago ,and had NO problems.Today when i tried to open the a/c , this message appeared:-fume Hoping the Gauge file could have become corrupted,i loaded a fresh gauge file from the patch ,but no such luck. Also by clicking OK on the error popup, the system froze, and the only way out was to shut down my computer.Any help would be appreciated with thanks in advance.Charles
July 2, 200421 yr Commercial Member Hi Charles,No doubt yours is an issue with FSSound.dll. Read the text about that in any one of three places - the installation program itself, the Read_ist.txt, or the user's manual's Known Issues section.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Sodjahttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
July 3, 200421 yr Hi Bill,Thanks for the FIX. Worked like a charm! I was having withdrawl symtems at one stage.;) I read the post about Fssound.dll , but didn't understand that it had an effect on the gauge system. When opening Fs9 i still get the error of Fssound, but by clicking 'Yes' it works. You mentioned in that post about editing the CFG file. What part and what do i enter in this?Does it also stop the 'error' popup from showing? Thanks a million for your fix and am very pleased to see it flying again.Charles
July 3, 200421 yr Commercial Member Inside your R4D aircraft folder you will find a little document called "fs9cfgtweak.txt" that will lead you through the process of locating your fs9.cfg file and editing it to eliminate the annoying flag forever.Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM - Rambow, Visser, Banting, Young, Womack, and Sodjahttp://www.fssupport.com/maam_sim/maamsim_logo.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
July 3, 200421 yr It is simple to click YES,which is what I'm doing. However it is frustating not being able to get rid of the annoying error. Obviously I'm doing something wrong, I think I follwed the procedures correctly. I don't have this problem with the BT. Any help?Ed WDell XPS 2.8Windows XP
July 3, 200421 yr The following is directly frrm the manual. Which bit are you having trouble with?KNOWN ISSUESThe following are known issues which have been noted during development and testing for which there are presently no fixes. Some issues below are as a result of the peculiarities of FS programming and never will have a fix. But, if solutions are found, and it is considered worthwhile, free patches will be available and can be downloaded from www.maam.org. These issues may or may not be experienced on your system.1. FSSound.dll False error warning on load-up. After installation of the DC-3 / R4D in FS2004, you may see a warning when you load the program saying this: "ERROR - FS9 Flight Simulator has detected potentially incompatible aircraft or software. File: FSSound.dll Do you want to load this software?" CLICK ON YES to load the dll, which goes in the FS9 Modules folder. The file will not cause problems and this flag is the only incompatibility. If you choose not to load it, you will find the gauges missing from the aircraft. We have chosen to use the most recent full release version of FSSound.dll, by Daniel Steiner, which is v1.5.0.2, rather than the newer beta v1.6 beta which we have tried. Although the flag is eliminated by this beta, we have received reports that this beta causes problems with some other third-party panels. We do not want to interfere with other products by overwriting the older, proven, but outdated module with this newer beta. If you do not run other panels using FSSound.dll and would like to have the beta file, you can get it here: ftp://fssound.hn.org/FSSound/v1.6/FSSound160beta1.zip (at the time of this writing in November, 2003.) If you do not want to cope with this flag and having to click on Yes each time FS9 starts, there is a way to get rid of it. Ian Pearson has written instructions and these can be found in the Aircraft/R4D Documents folder in "fs9cfgtweak.txt" Allcott

There is one problem with your suggestion for the fix ,in that as i do NOT have the R4D, i need to find some other way of obtaining the "fs9cfgtweak.txt file",My problem was with the MAAM B25J,and although it is now working, i still have that popup showing ,which i would like to get rid of.I have the Fssound.dll=1 entered under Old Modules,in fs9cfg file. July 4, 200421 yr I found my problem in the Flight Simulator General Discussion ForumSect.-- FS 2004 FSSOUND.dll. You might try that while awaiting Alcott. Ed W

July 5, 200421 yr Hi Bill and Allcott,Thanks for the early reply and where to find the fix.I replaced the old modules file with the one Alcott suggested including the square brackets and 'SAVED' it, but still get that annoying popup! Is the CFG file sensitive to upper and lower case entries?I will check the setting in the BT documents and see what happens. It just doesn't make sense, why it won't work. Will let you know again how it went.Regards , Charles
