December 4, 200520 yr I purchased the "Briefing Time" CDs (one was the Multi Media CD) on April 11,2005. The MAAM Website mentions in a News Release, dated August 8,2005, a NEW 5th Edition CD. My CD does not show an "Edition Number" on the face of the CD. Am I up to date, or do I need to buy a NEW 5th Edition CD??
December 4, 200520 yr Commercial Member You can find the edition number of your particular CD by looking at the "read1st.txt" If it is not in the heading of that doc, you will find it in the first couple of paragraphs. But the good news is, it doesn't really matter. Fixes, updates, upgrades, enhancements or improvements found on new editions are available to you, free of charge, by download. You will find all of these on one central location, namely our "Free Stuff" Enhancements page... http://www.maam.org/flightsim/enhance/enhance.htmFrom your purchase date, I can tell that yours would be a 4th Edition, so all you need is the Briefing Time Panel Upgrade (either FS2004 or FS2002)to bring you up to snuff.I put out new editions of the CD's when I have to burn a new batch for the museum store and there have been significant enough changes since the last burn to justify the work of recompiling the installer and updating the associated docs. This is true of both the B-25 and the Gmax R4D/DC-3/C-47. So, assuming you are willing and able to download and then install files, there is really no reason to buy succeeding editions, unless of course you are a fanatical MAAM-SIM collector, or just want to drop a few more bucks in the Museum's restoration fund coffers, both of which we think are brilliant pursuits! ;-)Bill RambowMAAM-SIMhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam/maamsim_neon.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
December 5, 200520 yr Thanks Bill. I will go and look for the "B-25 Panel Upgrade" on the MAAM site. I am getting ready to order the DC3/..... OR.. should I wait. It sounds like "something" New is comimg soon. Other than small downloads, I use the Telephone to order anything that I see online. The B-25 is my only "Payware" as most payware can not be got Off Line. SPOFFEDIT: Found the Panel Upgrade. Downloaded it. Will try it tomorrow. Thanks. SPOFF

Yes, there will be new add-ons presently to the basic package, but you'll be eligible for those in any case as a supporter, having bought the initial disk. You'll find you've plenty to be getting on with for the moment!MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
December 5, 200520 yr Commercial Member Mark is right on - as usual. Although there will eventually be a new R4D/DC-3/C-47 CD edition including the upcoming upgrades, it will not be until existing stocks of the current edition are exhausted. To do otherwise is to toss some of MAAM's loot down the drain. We try to avoid that whenever we can. So by all means grab your copy ASAP. Then when the new goodies are released as a free enhancement you will be only a download and auto-install away from flying the newest and shiniest Gooney Bird on the ramp, without waiting for the oh-so-slow postman to arrive on your doorstep.Bill RambowMAAM-SIMhttp://www.fssupport.com/maam/maamsim_neon.gif Bill Rambow MAAM-SIM www.maam.org
December 6, 200520 yr Downloaded the panel upgrade last night. Prior to installing it ..I checked to see if I might already have it. NOT. So I installed it. Auto installer is nice. Everything works fine afterward. Noticed something else relative to "Hard Start". Hadn't noticed it before. HOT engines: Don't turn on the Boost Pumps for a restart.. and don't Prime. Everything "Hunky Dory". I LOVE my B-25. SPOFF
