January 5, 200620 yr What is the purpose of the inverters? For quite some time I have flown this beauty without using them. One reason being that I couldnt locate them on the panel. Ah, but today I found them located on the secondary panel of the radio stack. But I can't find in the manuals any reference as to their function, only the check list says to turn them on. So what do they do??????Thanks for the answers.
January 5, 200620 yr Hi,inverters are electrical devices wich transform DC into AC.The electrical generators found on the DC-3 only deliver DC but some radio or navigation equipments needs AC so the inverters...Nowadays jetplanes face the opposite problem with only AC generation and use TR (Transformer Rectifier) to get DC current.Hope it will help, altack
January 5, 200620 yr Author Thanks for the reply, Altack. So, in reality for FS9 they are not functional since the equipment didn't burn up due to being AC and not DC current.
January 6, 200620 yr ilovetoflyFly for another twenty four minutes. All of a sudden your computer will explode in a noxious shower of fumes and plastic. The house you once knew as home will be matchwood. And you yourself will be halfway to your destination without a ticket. Those things that are functional in FS9 have the possibility of adding a checkmark in the checklist. Those that are not, but should be there for correctness, are already checked.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
