New MAAM-SIM Douglas DC-3 Cargo Repaint Uploaded

Featured Replies

Hi To All, I've just uploaded a new repaint for the MAAM-SIM Douglas DC-3 Cargo aircraft, in fictional Antarctica Research Program livery, to the AVSIM File Library. The file name is: maam_ant.zip This Antarctica Research Program DC-3 Cargo aircraft is assigned to, and based on, the ficticious Antarctica research outpost featured in John Carpenter's Sci-Fi Hit "The Thing" (1982) starring Kurt Russell. Although there were no fixed-wing aircraft at the outpost in the movie (only helicopters) I thought it would be fun to create one, since I plan to re-create the outpost with a runway for this aircraft. When completed, it will be uploaded as freeware scenery. My very first attempt at a repaint of any kind, and I hope you enjoy it! Here's a screenshot. Fun idea, Larry. Well done for choosing the MAAM-SIM ship for your first repaint! It's a wonderful feeling when you see what you've achieved for the first time, is it not? Hope to see many more. There are probably more real world liveries for the DC-3 - as yet unpainted - as any other aircraft you could name. Postwar, the DC-3 featured within almost every commercial airline in the world.MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a]

Thanks for the kind words, Mark! I had a lot of fun and satisfaction creating this basic design, and hope to get up there with the master repainters eventually. The MAAM-SIM R4D/DC-3/C-47 package is the best flightsim investment I've made....worth at least twice what you people are asking for it! Larry

OK, where's the other $30 then? ;-)Thanks very much. I'll get this and a few other new repaints up on our Free Stuff pages ASAP, now that I'm back from WWII Weekend. Nice work. Hopefully before too much longer we'll have the ski-equipped version for you.Bill RambowMAAM-SIM http://www.fssupport.com/maam/hgrsm_blkani.gif
