July 10, 200718 yr Hey, Gang.... I've just uploaded my second attempt at a repaint, the MAAM-SIM DC-3 Passenger in fantasy Texas Department Of Corrections livery. I think this one turned out rather well, and I'm learning fast. Hope to be up there with the master repainters eventually! I hope you all enjoy this new skin! July 17, 200718 yr Can't quite get my head around our beloved bird being used as a prison van, Larry, but congrats on your paint work, in any case! Hope we'll see some more from you, maybe of real world liveries still to be painted, of which there are probably about a thousand or so ;)I thought life for prisoners was supposed to be tough!? Considering most of us here would PAY to go flying on a DC-3, I reckon they are definitely having it too soft there!MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM

I got several emails from folks who said it was a great idea, and a few that said it was nice downloading something other than "just another airline repaint" (as one responder said). In any event, Mark, I respect your views, and I'd like to ask you...I'd like to tackle a repaint of one of the real-world airline liveries for the DC-3...but where can I get good pictures?? I want to be as accurate as possible, and good pics which show the entire aircraft scheme would be nice. Is there a special website that I can get the quality pics I need to replicate an actual "as-yet-undone" commercial MAAM DC-3 paint scheme?? Thanks, Mark! Larry G. "Skywatcher"
July 19, 200718 yr Hi LarryYou'll find a lot of good pictures at airliners.net if you look under the category for Douglas DC-3/C-47 in their search boxes. Most are contemporary, predictably, but there's some good stuff there nevertheless:www.airliners.netTrev Morson's site, which you probably know, is a must to visit. Tons of older pics buried in his pages:www.douglasdc3.comYou could also dig here:www.dc3history.orgaeroweb.brooklyn.cuny.edu/locator/manufact/douglas/c-47.htmwww.centercomp.com/dc3/And even just look under 'images' for the Douglas DC-3 under Google. You'll come up with a lot, I think.Best of luck! There are some great liveries out there! Shout here if you can use any advice, although it'll probably be worth what you pay for it, of course :)MarkMark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cx.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/avsimlogo.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
