VC panel lights

Featured Replies

I thought I had this problem previously, and had it solved, however, it is back. Using the DC-3 with FSX at night, I have lost the panel lights in the VC.I would appreciate it if someone could reply with the fix, again..Thanks.

I had a similar problem and looked into the aircraft.cfg file and found that the following lights were missing in the FSX "Effects" directory: fx_r4d_navred fx_r4d_navgre fx_r4d_navwhi fx_r4d_vclight I then searched for these files in my FS9 directory and copied them into FSX. In my case this fixed the problem.Tim

Tim,Thanks for the reply however that did not solve the problem.I am thinking if could possibly be in the .cfg file. I would have thought the upgrade to FSX would include the lights.

Here's something that seems to have worked for me. First, make sure the all .fx files are copied over. (There are some under fx_c47* and I think fx_Radial_Oil_Drip.fx may also be used for the DC3/C-47s.) I found it easiest to copy over all the .fx files from FS9 that didn't already exist in the FSX effects folder, since I'll be importing other aircraft too. In fx_R4D_vclight.fx and maybe fx_c47_Cabin_red.fx there is a line that goes:Lifetime=0.50, 0.50I noticed that it seemed the red VC light would come on and then shut off, so I tried commenting that line out like this://Lifetime=0.50, 0.50Then load a non-MAAM aircraft if you're in a MAAM one right now, switch back to a MAAM aircraft, and then use the panel (rather then the keyboard) to turn on the lights. Check the VC to see if it worked. If it doesn't work, you could try hitting L and then trying to turn the lights on again using the panel.Incidently, not sure if this is due to SP2 or what, but turning on and off the panel lights seems to affect whether the window/logo lights on the AI controlled airplanes are on. This is not aircraft specific (happens with the default Bell 206 too) but is something I just noticed while working on the DC3 lights thing. Harmless bug, but kind of amusing. :)"Let me help you out. You're cleared to taxi any way you can to any runway you see."

Depressing the O key resolved the problem. Thanks for the information though.
