Hello all :-wave Its my first post in here, Im normally over at the Fly!2 Forum. My name is Steve and I did the Astronaut Training Experience at NASA Kennedy Space Center, Florida. Here are a few pictures of the Simulator I was pilot on for landing.Sadly Im not making a cockpit, but its something I would love to see for Space Flight Sim.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/80239.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/80240.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/80241.jpgAll the best, SteveMy Websitehttp://www.wrexhamspace.orgMy Repaintshttp://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+ViewMy Modelshttp://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+ViewMy Sceneryhttp://library.avsim.net/search.php?CatID=...&Go=Change+View

There was the beginning of a shuttle panel for the default Orbiter shuttle, but that was a long time ago and I haven't heard anything in a year or more. The main shuttle addon (which has a lot more features than the default shuttle) is closed source, so unless the author decides to add a panel to it, it can't be done.Otherwise, the Virgin Games Shuttle Simulator is on some abandonware sites on the web: 320x240 graphics are pretty unimpressive by modern standards, but it did have a complete panel implementation (though some switches don't actually do anything).

I am building one!well, I'm planning to build one. As soon as I get the money from my sponsor, I'll start building. You can find the site here: http://www.blueiceproductions.nl/shuttleThe software I'm using is the most realistic ever made! It'll make you forget orbiter en shuttle by virgin.Every single button works and has his effects! No playing around with the joystick just to get in orbit.Astonishing graphics (check the screenshots on my site)...Currently,I'm the only user who has access to the testing-game, but I guess as soon as the bugs are out, the creator will release a demo or even a full-version.The creator is Micke Lundberg, and you can find his site here: http://user.tninet.se/~mxa881h/index.htmlI can't say enough how I appreciate his work.Ps: Sorry if I make some mistakes, I speak dutch, and am only 15.

Quite honestly, the Orbiter community is not really interested in Mr. Lundbergs project. He's already proclaimed Orbiter looks "like ####", so he's pretty much alienated himself from a good source of potential customers.Too bad Mr. Lundberg hasn't seen the latest Orbiter beta version yet. His orbital view of the Earth is "old news" to Orbiter. Like 2 years (and 3 releases) ago.Right now, we're working on a full panel Project Mercury addon (http://projectmercury5.moonport.org) that, like Mr. Lundbergs sim, every button and gauge works. We already have that for Project Apollo, and one is in the works for the Space Shuttle. Now indeed Mr. Lundberg is entitled to his own opinion, and I suspect he viewed a very old version of Orbiter, but he should research things before proclaiming that the Orbiter simulator is not as good as his project.

what do you have against him? He's creating a realistic spacesim, and indeed, when you compare his game to orbiter, you never want to see orbiter again.I'm not saying I'll never play orbiter again, but not until all switches are functional. At this very moment, his sim is the only realistic (well, next to "shuttle") one available. An you are correct. The screenshots on his site, with view of earth look like crap. But you should see the new texturing.Oh, and to clear things up: I'm not Mr. Lundberg... I've just downloaded the latest version, and I didn't change.Maybe you should try his game, before proclaiming anything...Mail me if you're intrested...Oh, BTW, wasn't this topic about someone making a shuttle-cockpit?Not about what simulator is good or bad?P.s.: Your Mercury project looks very prommesing, maybe I'll use it if I'll ever build a Mercury sim (what I'm planning to do).

I have nothing against Mr. Lundberg at all. In fact, I think his shuttle simulator really looks promising. Some of those screenshots of his are really impressive, and to be quite honest, there would be quite a number of people who would love a simulator like this. And to be fair, I cannot download the software to properly evaluate his claim that Orbiter looks "like ####" compaired to his simulator. Or to compair that Orbiter is nowhere near as accurate as his simulator. In the sence of the operation of the Shuttle, then he is correct, Orbiter is not as accurate as a sim dedicated to just one aspect of spaceflight. But to diss Orbiter in general (looks like ####) and proclaim that his simulator is far more accurate than Orbiter, it's a very tall claim to make. My hope is that he can deliver on this promise.Sure, email me at webmaster@moonort.org. I'd love to check this sim out and compair. I'd happily eat my words if I am wrong. :)

Orbiter is more for the visual aspect, not the simulating. To get in orbit, you have to do it with your joystick/arrow-buttons...If you like this kind of games, fine, but I need real simulating software, like Micke's.I couldn't get my bay doors to close yesterday, using the standard switch, so I used the GPC... That's something you can't do in Orbiter. Micke's sim is a sim like MSFS, only adjustet to the shuttle. And that's exactly what I need.

Well it really depends on what you want to do with Orbiter. There is NASSP with a full panel for both Command Module and Lunar Module, so you fly Apollo 11 by the numbers. Project Mercury will also sport a full working panel. The shuttle in Orbiter is, indeed, lacking in terms of realism. However that does not mean it will stay that way forever. One thing I do hope for Mikes sim is that he allows expansion, such as adding things like the ISS, the Hubble, and other things to get to when you're up there. Nothing more boring than to get into orbit with nowhere to go. :(Thats one of the nice things about Orbiter. Not just the eyecandy, but it's room for growth. I hope Mike lets the same room in. It'll make his simulator "take off", so to speak. ;)

>Anyone of you guys building a Space shuttle cockpit or>spaceship by any chance??>>Thanks.>>RobertoI'm building an Enterprise stack for Orbiter. Yeah I know that Enterprise never flew, but this one will. :DOne guy on the Orbiter forum has already built a cockpit in his basement. Not of the shuttle, but a generic one with the "window" being a 17 foot screen with a PC projector. It looks cool. I'll see if I can find a screenshot of it.

I think he keeps that in mind.Right now we're testing and debugging, using just a simple Launch - orbit - descent flight. Nothing special. But as soon as everything is ok (better textures, less bugs, ...), he'll start creating missions. If you have an idea, please post it here.I thought dokking with the ISS or launching / grabbing a sattelite would be fun.

A lot of people say that, don't understand it... It'll work if you send it as a "new" mail.

I found this via a google search and if anyone knows who this individual is please let me know how I can contact them. I'm very interested in turning a small room into a realistic working replica of a shuttle cockpit. This is thus far the best work I've found in that area.http://users.ev1.net/%7Eehcalk/ebay/sim/panels.htm

We should get S3's shuttle and systems together with orbiters graphics and missions..and finally have a complete space sim.for shuttle guys like me a shuttle compleate sim like the old virgin games only 100x better, and non shuttle guys get well what non shuttle guys like.orbiter looks nice but was way too complex for a dummy like me.
