April 13, 200422 yr I am making a transition from the system shown in my signature to an ASUS P4C800E-Deluxe mobo and 3.2 GHz 800FSB P4 with hyperthreading.I know from the many posts I've seen that ultimately some of my FS or Non-FS software may not run well with HT but so far I've been OK. I'm expecting the benefit (if any) to be in smoothness not frame rate....I can set affinity to assign a processor for FS9 and many other processes. However, for Sygate Firewall and Norton Anti-virus (two things that I see grabbing cycles), the set affinity seems to be blocked and I can't even see the settings let alone change them. All I want to do is put FS9 on the processor where these aren't if possible.Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a way around this (e.g. ImageCFG.exe) or are these off limits for my own good? Thanks.
