i bought a new amd 64 3000+ w/1gig ram and radeon 9800 pro w/256megsi have mipmap level at 4and im getting lots of shimmering scenery and also lots of purple squares when i pan - yes it redraws it in fast but i thought for sure i wouldnt see much, i see quite a bitthe worse part is the shimmering scenery, i dont get how to eliminate that, i have AA off internally but 2x on my radeon on , ive tried 4 and 6 and it doesnt seem to make a diff.im running at 1280x1024 - i had been at 1600x1200 but i was getting lots of stutteringany ideas?thanksciao!Brian S

turn up your ansiotropic filtering.You can also turn down the mipmap settings, but I wouldn't because it makes other details look bad (like VCs).

the biggest negative with lowering mip mapping seems to be how scenery around you looks. If you pan around the aircraft you will see blurry textures on the ground with mip map number below 8.

Have you deleted the driver parts in the fs9.cfg? have you got the latest chipset drivers for your mobo?Have you reinstalled DirectX9?have you installed the latest drivers for the video card?Allcott

This seemed to help for me:In your FS9.cfg under the TERRAIN section set:TERRAIN_EXTENDED_LEVELS=4The default is some very lage number which does not seem correct to me, based upon what we learned from this setting in FS2002.Larry S.
