August 11, 200421 yr Some time ago I had installed a newer version of the motherboard Intel chipset driver into Windows XP, and had made a restore point before this. Graphics appeared to be more stuttery in FS9, so I restored to my previously made restore point in XP.As things don't appear to be quite the same still, I'm thinking of installing the older driver again. Is it necessary to "uninstall" the current driver first? Or does just installing over the current driver version work just as well? Thanks for any help,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
August 11, 200421 yr I would first try and install overtop. If you want to try and uninstall and the driver is not listed in the normal Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs menu listing, open Device Manager, select the System Devices for AGP drivers, and IDE/ATAPI controllers for disk driver drivers. Try the uninstall driver button and hold onto your seat with your eyes wideopen to see what happens.Worst case probably will be WinXP loads the basic drivers on system reboot.W. August 20, 200421 yr I just had to do that myself, and I didn't uninstall the old drivers. But I did use the driver install program on the MB disk. It worked fine. Seemed to have flushed all the old drivers, and the new ones are now working properly. I guess you could delete them first, bit in my case, it didn't seem to be needed. There are a lot of drivers to load too...When I rebooted, it detected and loaded all kinds of intel bus, etc drivers...Would be a pain to do manually...MK Mark Keith
