FS Sound problems....can anyone help please?

I had no problems until a week or 2 ago. However, I now have only intermitent sound in FS; sometimes it's OK for 5/10 minutes, sometimes it even starts up silent. I've checked over and again and the issue is not aircraft, position or event related. Without warning, all FS sound is gone and like the sound itself, sometimes the silence lasts for up to a minute, sometimes its 10 minutes - then it comes back. All other sound like system sounds event, media like CD/music works with no problem whatsoever and I've run Dxdiag and that finds no problems either.Last night I got the latest driver for the onboard sound from C-Media and that made no difference.I'd like to avoid getting a seperate sound card as to be honest the improved quality is wasted on me as I think the existing sound is fine.....unless I'm using FS.Can anyone offer a suggestion?FYI my PC info is:P4 2.4EPoX 4PCA3+ i875 Canterwood socket 478 Mobo FSB800Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG1024MB DDR400DirectX 9.0cRadeon 9800 pro 128C-Media AC97 Wave deviceXP Home SP2http://www.blandreynolds.btinternet.co.uk/DF_PG_sm.gif

Hi Paul, just before the problem started, did you by any chance install an add-on that uses FSSound.dll (in your modules folder)? If so, try disabling it and delete its correspondent entry in the [OLD_MODULES] section of your FS9.cfg.Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg

Considering that your sound has worked OK in the past, and all non-FS sound is still working fine, I don't think it's a hardware problem. So I would look at a change in settings, or a software installation at around the time the problem first occured. For example, what about Windows updates? Have you installed any important programs, since the problem first surfaced? If not, you could try System Restore, and put your system back to a point before the problem started (provided you got System Restore enabled, of course).Cheers,Gosta.http://www.hifisim.com/images/as2betateam.jpg
