September 11, 200421 yr I did everything by the book, uninstalled 4.8 (all components), rebooted, verified there was no ATI stuff left, then installed newly downloaded 4.9 (I downloaded CC 4.9 with the driver). Rebooted. Everything went fine but when I click on the CC it tells me I have no driver installed. When I check under Control Panel/Add Remove - the driver is there. I was trying to "repair", repeated the whole sequence again - to no avail. I finally uninstalled 4.9 and installed the previous 4.8 which went just fine. Any ideas?Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
September 12, 200421 yr Michael,Did you also install that Microsoft program NET 1.1? ATI says the control panel will not work without it. Something to do with updates or something like that.I did not have a lot of luck either when I ran the new control center. I could not get my monitor to refresh at 85MHz because the new CC has only one setting for displays and None for monitor (that I could find).I re-installed the smaller version of 4.9 (26 Mb)with the older panel and things work great and I can set my monitors freq now.Terry
September 12, 200421 yr Author Yea, I did install the NET 1.1.Maybe I will try this smaller version too. So you can have 4.9 drivers with the 4.8 control panel. Good to know.EDIT: Yep, this "smaller" 23 MB package worked.Michael J.http://www.reality-xp.com/community/nr/rsc/rxp-higher.jpg Michael J.
