October 3, 200421 yr Gang...I'll be receiving my new system in about a week and aside from having to reinstall the OS due to a new MB and CPU, is there an easy way to move FS9 to the new system without having to reinstall everything again...?I have everything from payware aircraft to traffic add-on's, etc. Will reinstalling just FS9 on the new system and then copying over the old files into that new install location work...?Thanx in advance...
October 3, 200421 yr should work, thats what i have done quite a few times. some of the payware planes do not take kindly to this method and have to be reinstalled, but if you save a copy then you can copy them over the new install to get back any mods you have done.
October 3, 200421 yr What mainboard are you going from and going to? You may or may not be able to use Ghost or similar. If you are so lucky it uses the same SATA Raid controller and have the same chipset it should work fine. If you just can get access to the harddrive later on you will be able to boot to remove and install the correct chipset drivers later. However if you have or go to SATA you may get problems. Reinstalling fs9 and then copying over the old files may very well work can
October 3, 200421 yr Author I'm moving from an older MSI I405 MB with the Intel 845 chipset (Celeron 1.7G) to the newer Abit IC7-G MB with the Intel 875 chipset (P4 3.0G).I'll be mixing a new SATA drive as the primary with an EIDE drive as the secondary... so in order to take advantage of the new chipset and things like hyper-threading I understand that I'll have to reinstall Windows and most everything else. The only thing I was hoping to not have to reinstall completely was FS9 so if installing and copying the old across will work I'd prefer to do so. I figure I may have to reinstall some payware stuff... like Ultimate Traffic (maybe?) but the less the better.Cheers...
