October 19, 200421 yr Hi All,I am not happy with the latest drivers from ATI. Can someone reccommend the best Cat version to use. Thanks,Paul ( SPIM )
October 19, 200421 yr I'm using the 4.10's and they seem fine to me. Where are you unhappy?Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg
October 19, 200421 yr I'd say go for the 8.07 beta's (4.11). They work awesome for me, especially since it has the 256MB bugfix wich 4.10's doesnt have apparently.
October 19, 200421 yr Author Hi,I am using 4.10 and it seems that when I'm in spot plane view, all the artwork on my aircraft ( I've tried many ) are jagged...no smooth lines. It may not be the fault of the drivers... as I upgraded to the patched FS9.1 as well.I tried the trick of deleteing the fs9 config file and letting it create a new one. No joy.I have MIP at 5, and everything else maxed. Antialiasing I leave to the graphics driver... fixed at 6x.Thanks for your help.... any ideas welcome.Paul ( SPIM )
October 20, 200421 yr Try you mip at 4, I think that's what most people are using. You didn't say which card you're using, that might help also.Ed GreenKCLThttp://www.panelshop.com/DEV.jpghttp://www.globecargo.org/images/VAA_Sen_captain.jpg
October 20, 200421 yr Author Hi Ed,Sorry, yes it's a All in Wonder 9700pro... a great card.. lasted a long time at near top of the performance charts.. the 9800 then XT's were a slight performance gain, but nothing to write home about.... only now, several years down the road are cards emerging that might be worth upgrading to... the x800's and 6800 series... so at least I feel I got value for money with this card. ( unlike my geforce3 ti500 that cost a fortune and was outdated 2 months after I bought it. )I'll try the mip4 setting....Another quickie.... you don't know if that guy who did the Air Zaire RFP repaint ever uploaded them anywhere do you? It's the one shown of the RFP screenshots forum.Thanks..Paul ( SPIM )
October 23, 200421 yr Paul,I am using the 4.10 drivers too with the same setup as you have and I had the "jaggie's" too on all aircraft. I thought I had it fixed a week or two ago my removing support for DXT textures in the graphics card setup. The jaggies did go away in spot view when I moved the viewpoint to a certain angle/point but, overall, the jagged edges were still there. I did a lot of tweaking, both with the graphic card settings and within the sim with no joy. Last night I decided to try a different resolution. I was using 1280x1024x32 and I changed the settings to 1600x1200x32. That did the trick. Now I have smooth lines no matter where I look at the aircraft. FYI, I have the new ATI X800 XT PCI graphics card. Graphics drivers are set to Optimal Quality (AA 4x and AF 16x). In FS9 graphics settings, I have checked "Render to Texture"; "Transform and Lightning"; Trilinear Filtering; Mips is at 5; and Hardware Rendering Lights is set at 5. I have also set the target framerate at 50.Hope this helps you.Jim Young
