Hi.In general terms, since we do not know what your OS / HD combination is, this assumes that your HD is installed and the BIOS sees it. If the above are satisfied all you need to do is:Left click on "Start" (lower left corner), Left click on "Run" and type in "format drv:" then click OK. Where "drv:" is the letter of the drive that you just added. Post here with more info if this is not what you have.NOTE: BE VERY CAREFULL IF THE WRONG DRIVE IS FORMATED YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR DATA. If your using Windows XP, just open {My Computer} right click on the drive your wanting to format and click format. Select NTFS and complete in the window that pops up and your on the way. 99 and 44/100ths percent of the time XP will not allow you to make a mistake and format your primary OS drive but these are computers after all and anything is possible. If your operating under another system, you can us a standard Windows 95 or 98SE boot disk to boot the `puter then just type {format -your drive letter- :} Without the brackets and hit enter then follow the on-screen prompts. This will format in FAT format which will run considrably slower than NTFS.At least thats the two methods that have worked for me.
