January 24, 200521 yr I installed this card yesterday; but when I loaded Fs9 and began to change views using the 'S' key my LCD screen changed to a myriad of coloured lines, see the attached .jpg. Has anyone else with an ATI Card see anything similar, and cured it? :) I have installed the latest Drivers without making any difference. Effectively I am 'grounded' until I can find a cure.Any help would be appreciated.Ken,Somserset, England
January 24, 200521 yr Hi Ken,I may be wrong, but I'm sure I recall seeing something like this on one of my earlier CRT monitors a few years back. I think it was caused by the selection of an incorrect or incompatible screen resolution.Assuming you are only seeing this problem in FS9, I suggest you backup your FS9.cfg before deleting it and then allow FS9 to create a fresh configuration file. This will ensure that FS9 detects your card and drivers correctly. Once in to FS9 change to your LCD monitor's native resolution in the usual way via Display - Hardware. Also, can I suggest you check out "FS9.CFG - Care and Maintenance" in the MSFS Tips and Tricks forum. I do believe this posting has some value and the advice contained therein has kept my installation of FS9 ticking over very nicely for some time now.Fingers crossed!Mike.
January 24, 200521 yr Hello Mike,Thanks for your reply. That's given me something to work with. I'll let you know how things go.Ken
January 27, 200521 yr Hi Mike and Alex,I've tried all those suggections but still failed to sort the problem; even though at one time I thought I had.One thing I have found, in response to an Asus (my mobo) Probe report I checked Device Manager and found that it showed I have 2 Graphic Cards under the heading of Adapter! The second entry qualified itself as 'Secondary'? Should I remove/un-install this entry, or would it be better to just disable it?ken,Somerset, England
January 27, 200521 yr Make shure that you uninstalled the old graphics card. Drivers, etc. Click on the old one in your device manager, and im shure you can un-install it from there. Chase Barnett
January 28, 200521 yr Hi Chase,Thanks for your reply, I made sure all the nVidia drivers were uninstalled. Just checked again, all clean.looks like this card will have to be returned whence it came.Ken
January 28, 200521 yr A terrible thought :) I don't suppose that this PowerColor Card is one that does not support LCD Monitors, could it.......?Ken
January 28, 200521 yr Hi Ken,Sorry you're still toiling :("I checked Device Manager and found that it showed I have 2 Graphic Cards under the heading of Adapter! The second entry qualified itself as 'Secondary'".....don't worry, that's normal for the 9800 Pro and is certainly not the cause. Windows will reinstall the secondary adapter if you try to delete it.Please, could you clarify whether this problem is only seen in FS9?Mike
January 29, 200521 yr Hello Mike,"toiling", that is a good word, it fits what I am doing exactlty :)As far as I can tell so far, there is not much on my PC that would require as much resource as Fs9 does when it's in 'full cry'! If I go into Video Capture that might trigger a reaction? But for me, if Fs9 doesn,t perform that's it.I'm at the point now where sending the Card back is high on my priority list.Ken
January 30, 200521 yr Hi Ken,Just a thought - any chance you could switch to another monitor and see whether you still see this problem? I'm wondering whether the monitor rather than the GPU is at fault here.Have you installed the correct driver file for your ViewSonic?http://www.viewsonic.com/support/drivers/d...ormName=monitorMike
January 30, 200521 yr hello Mike,I only gave that a thought last night when coming to the end of a chat on messenger, suddenly 'disaster' struck again. That was the first time the problem has occurred outside Fs9.So, after that I realised the PowerColor Card was the culprit for all my ills over the past few days; only one thing to do!! That Card has to go back whence it came.I have re-installed my 'old' Nvidia GeForce Ti4200, everything is fine at the moment; tonight I have a short flight from Jersey UK to Exeter UK and see how it goes. That 'other' Card had upset my whole PC one way or another; now somehow it just 'feels' right again. Many thanks for your support Mike, very much appreciated. Thanks also to all who helped.KenSomerset, England
