ch yoke without pedals - anyone use this setup?

Featured Replies

hi allI'm considering buying a CH yoke to replace my cheapo saitek twist joystick. I cannot afford the pedals at the moment so I will lose my rudder! I've tried flying with autorudder to see what I'll miss but I can't help twist the stick which I think overrides the autorudder.so my question is, has anyone flown with a ch yoke without the pedals - does it still feel ok and is it better than a twist joystick?

I'd rather keep the joystick and buy the pedals to go with it. The Yoke really does not add a lot to the feeling as it is a bunch of cheapo plastics anyway just like a cheap joystick, only in the form of a Yoke. The pedals are great however. I know a lot of people feel differently, but IMHO you are better off with a good joystick than with the CHYoke (if you wanna Yoke by an AETI, yeah expensive I know). And if you fly GA or use to handfly planes I would think that flying with autorudder takes away much of the realism and even techniques like sideslipping, landings with one wing down etc.etc..Alex

I have to agree. I have the CH Yoke, but I've been flying with a Saitek stick and the CH pedals for 6 months now due to lack of desktop space. It works great actually. It may not be 100% real for Cessnas but many of of the planes I fly actually use a stick in real life as well.I can't imagine flying without any form of rudder control. Simply keeping a prop plane straight down the runway would be a real challenge not to mention landing in even the slightest crosswind - you'd essentially limit yourself to flying only when it's dead calm. Even then, lining up using only ailerons would be a bit of a challenge.

thankyou for taking the time to confirm my own thoughts. I'm not sure what autorudder does but it feels wrong. I still like the yoke because it has 3 levers + buttons, but it looks like pedals are a pre-requisite :-(

I do like the CH Yoke though I fly much better with my Saitek Cyborg force stick :).As for rudder pedals you could get some cheap #### USB wheel and use it
