February 23, 200521 yr I just added another 512 ram...although I find the sim smoother, fluid, I am not sure if I find a big diff? I looked in my system specs after install and it shows only .95 ram, I thought it should show...1056, unless the window can not read over 999? I know on my laptop(512) it is showing 491mgs ? That, I think, I understand. But with the 2 sticks of 512..the window either can not read over 999 or the ram is not rcognized?Like I say...the sim is smoother, but I still have some issues here, that I thought would go away...like I seldom see FPS in 30-40's mostly 15-25 high...6-8-10-----14 -17 norms? If the window can not read over 999..well , I will deal with itThanksMike
February 23, 200521 yr That is weird. My RAM always reads 1024???What are diagnostic tool are you looking for? Either check in BIOS or with CPUZ for example :)As for jumping fps I get that as well. Jumping from 30 to 60 and so on. Something happened with my computer which means I get stutters in every game which I didn
February 23, 200521 yr Well more RAM won't give you a single more FPS. It might increase smoothness by preventing constant "micro-pauses" when the sim needs to resort to paging to disk due to lack of physical RAM however. -
February 23, 200521 yr You don't mention your system specs, but the ".95 RAM" is probably due to your system sharing RAM with the video card. I always lock my framerate. The sim is smooth as silk then.Greg
February 23, 200521 yr I have the Radeon 9200 series card with 256mgs of ram..would system still want to share the duties 1056 mgs of ram with the duties of the video card? 256However, if that is what happens, it still does not explain the fact that a poster here sees the 1056 ram diplayed..rather than ....point something? and I don'tMike
