April 9, 200521 yr What are the differences in performance between the following memory chips:1. PC3200 400MHZ 1024MB2. PC4200 533MHZ "3. DUAL CHANNEL (2X)512MBWhich way should I go if I were to build a new system.I realize that anything over 1 gig of memory is essentially an overkill with FS9. But I am planning to put 2 gigs.Appreciate all sorts of help and comment.Thanks.Abe
April 10, 200521 yr ABE; I'm SURE someone will disagree with this, BUT compared to everythingelse I've tried, Memory timing-speed has had the least impact on performance. I must qualify this by saying that I had lots of problems with FS9crashing, until I found out that a stick of 512MB I had added didn't"Like" to run at its rated speed. My MOBO allows setting memory "speed"on its own...so just tweaked it down a notch and everything was OK:D Good Luck Denny Denny Retired Professional Tourist
April 11, 200521 yr Author Thanks for the reply, Denny. It is comforting to know that the impact of memory is not as it is cracked up to be. Apparently the differences in memory speed and brand does not affect performance too terribly. Actually,(lol), I expected a whole bunch of response. Oh well, win some lose some. Thanks again, Denny.Abe
