April 13, 200521 yr Both with my old 9700 Pro and my new 9800 Pro I can only get 4x AGP. Yet my Asus MB is 8x capable and my MB Bios is set for 8x. Yet in the ATI Control Center it always shows 4x.

April 13, 200521 yr Greg, R U saying I just need to obtain newer chipset drivers (if there are any), for my board or is it an error the MB chipset returns?
April 14, 200521 yr "Newer chipset drivers."Yep. And then reinstall DirectX and your VC drivers as I instructed in your other thread. Should get you squared away.Greg
April 14, 200521 yr Thanks guys, that was it... new drivers. I guess I was naive when I purchased the board and the card way back when that it would already be setup to run 8x. Ta think I ran it the last two years thinking I was getting 8x. Doh!!!I'll read up on your stuff Greg... looks very insightful.
April 14, 200521 yr P.S. - Greg... what does "VC" stand for in VC drivers? My head is numb after all this tinkering.....
April 15, 200521 yr I get the 8x with Asus IC7c... Notmally it's the main board and the drivers associated with it that cause this to happen. I would get the latest mainboard drivers from the manufacturer and give that a go before doing anything else. Also get the latest drivers from ATI.
April 17, 200521 yr >Thanks guys, that was it... new drivers. I guess I was>naive when I purchased the board and the card way back whenI'm curious how much difference in performence did AGP 8x do compared to 4x?
