April 30, 200521 yr Can I use single and dual channel memory together?I have two gigs on two sticks 3200/400/single channelI have two sticks of 512 3200/400/dual channel and four memory banks to place themThanks way in advanceSteve
May 1, 200521 yr This will depend entirely on your mobo design, but I would think it's possible. You'll need to check your mobo manual or the manufacturers website.
May 2, 200521 yr Uhm if you have two identical sticks paired you can run them dual-channel...there's no such thing as "dual channel RAM" AFAIK - it's up to the mobo/chipset. -
May 2, 200521 yr Author Does the size of the memory stick matter? Boy that statement opens duck season... I have a pair of one gig sticks and a pair of 512 sticks which I would want to use on same configuration or do all the sticks have to be either/or I am running AMD 3200 w/win xp service pk2 Thanks for the answers Steve
May 2, 200521 yr I am guessing here, but I can be wrong, that if you pair the 1gb sticks with the 512mg sticks it can run dual channel. Although typically they need to be the same make to run dual channel, so the 2 512s must be identical and the 2 1gbs must be also.
