May 4, 200521 yr WOW... I got a 14" ELO touch screen monitor from e-bay for $85 + $15 for a serial cable. and man is it awesome.I was planning to get Go Flight or something similar for operating the GPS. and talking to Alex (he comes here) he suggested touchscreens. I wanted a large touch screen and flat panel..but they are a bit pricy.Well..I searched e-bay and came across this CRT 14" elo touch screen. and I bid for it..and I got it for less than $100. Regreted winning it. since 14" was too small. Then I thought, I'll use it for learning about touch screen after all it was no more than $100.Well..I won it and I Installed the driver from Elo... I had already gotten a Serial-USB cable thinking that I did not have a serial connection on my computer and the dang thing did not work. The Serial-USB cable does not work. Called up ELO technical help and they actually helped me. I went to radio shack and got a Female-Male serial cable and connected the monitor to the Mouse 9-pin Serial connector (This is in addition to the VGA connector that display stuff) and the dang thing worked like a charm.I have the GPS (the standard default Garmin GPS) as a sub window pulled into this monitor and WOW ..it works great. Since the 14" is small, I can overlay all the gadgets that that I want to operate thos way and I just leave a corner of the window visible so I can just point my finger and get it on the foreground and then operate it with my by pressing the buttons like the real thing. and IT IS AWESOME.I placed the monitor real close to me so its convenient. The only thing.. the rotray keys..I still prefer a rotary gadget like go flight instead of clicking my finger to rotate a knob.BTW.. ELO is supposed to be the best for touch screen and they are onely or one of the few that supports multi monitors. Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
