I may well be the only person who has found this problem but I have not found a solution & would be interested to know. I don't like downloading files - even from AVSim - with an imperfect or non existant virus checker.I have used AVG free edition without problems for a number of years & then updated to AVG 7.0. All appeared well on installation until I tried to restart the computer. The computer will not boot 75% of the time. It all appears perfectly normal until the very last bit just before the desk top appears. I am left with an arrow in the middle of the screen & the whole thing locked up solid. The only thing that does anything is removing the wall plug! After leaving it for a minute it goes through the whole boot procedure - including telling me off for not switching it off properly, how I hate that screen!!!!!- until it seizes solid again. With luck it starts at about the forth attempt. As you can imagine I was a little concerned about this & uninstalled AVG7. Computer runs & boots perfectly. Waited a few weeks for updates & re dowloaded the latest version. Exactly the same problem as before. I don't know what AVG have done with the latest version but my machine does not appear to like it.Am I alone in this?Chris

Are you running zone alarm as well? Had a Similar problem turned out it was zone alarm, uninstalled zone alarm and re installed the latest zone alarm and it fixed the problem.

GTOYes I do use Zone Alarm & yes getting the latest vesion does seem to have cured the problem. Sonething for anyone getting AVG to note. Thanks GreatlyChris

FWIW, I use Avast. I have been using it for a couple of years now and am very pleased with it.
