May 18, 200521 yr I have fs9 installed on a C: 200MB HDD running x32 bit XP Home SP2. No problems there with the usual gift of addons including UT, FE2004, PMDG, PSS Airbus, FSBuild2, Active Camera, Active Sky. Decent FPS achieved on my AMD64 3400+ using a Radeon 9800SE softmodded to a Pro.Recently installed a new Hitachi 40MB HDD to be used purely for x64 XP. Installed 64bit XP fine, works great, definate improvement in performance as expected. But, Instead of reinstalling FS9 & addons, I reference the C: installation. Took a wee bit of work but FS9 works fine and most addons work following various DLL and OCX registrations. Performance appears to be superior BUT ... 1) FS9 itself often (not always) appears to run at X4 the normal speed by default! Very strange effect indeed, I don't understand what could be causing this unsless it is a specific 64bit process/service causing it. 2) I am unable to upgrade the stock ATI drivers to the new x64 Omega, ATI, or Softmod drivers available. Whenever I try installing, x64 XP simply reverts back to the default ones!Anyone suffering similar problems that can throw some light on the subject? Thanks,Del.
May 18, 200521 yr I have not seen this problem on my x64 XP. I have an ATI PCI Express card and just upgraded the drivers to the new 5.5 release. Make sure you get the 64 bit drivers from ATI - 32 bit drivers for any hardware will not install!

May 20, 200521 yr OK - I have now managed to install the softmod drivers (manually) and I now got 8 pipelines working on my Radeon 9800SE (effectively making it a 9800 Pro). The only problem is the I don't have SMARTGART which means I have limited control over the card (e.g. no anti aliasing, but I compensate for increasing the screen resolution). So that's the 1st problem solved. Now onto the 2nd. I am still having this unusual problem of FS9 running too fast ... e.g. at X1 mode, everthing seems to operate at X2 or X4 mode. And slowing the sim down to half speed just screws up the whole time speed orientation. It's as if FS9 is constantly in fast forward mode. any ideas chaps?
June 22, 200520 yr Problem sorted. After many months of having issues I replaced my MSI 6741 mobo with an Abit AV8 Pro .... abcolutely perfect, superb, magificent.Seems Abit have a quality product. MSI ... probably never get my business again, although to be fair, I might have just been unlucky. All along I though it was ATi causing me problems.
