XP Professional versus XP Home?

Featured Replies

I have been using XP-Home (SP2) for FS9.1 and have a simple network for cable internet sharing, file transfer, and printing. Is there any advantage for me in getting XP-Professional if I have to buy another copy of OS? Any problem in mixing the two? Thanks,

None that I am aware of. Possibly if you are looking for an advanced home network, but simple sharing of printers and internet is no biggy.

XP PRO has a really handy way of handling your storage devices, creating different accounts and other stuff :). Most found under administrative tools. Also if you get Windows XP PRO you can upgrade later to X64 which you can

The free upgrade period only lasts for a year at the most I believe. It's not forever.

I decided to go with XP Professional with the hope that there will still be some kind of upgrade offer (probably not "free" which I believe ends in July) when I'm ready to bite the x64 bullet. Thanks to those who responded.....
