June 5, 200520 yr Originally I gave x64 a 10Gb partition out of 120Gb just for testing with XP on the other partition. After things went so well with x64 I decided to expand the parition with Partition Magic running under WinXP on the original partition...since there is no Partition Manager for x64 that won't erase your data.I went back into WinXP and resized the partitions to give the x64 partition another 50Gb of space. After rebooting it did its thing and resized the partitions but the x64 kept coming up with the WinXP boot screen and then failed to load. It kind of did something like the movie "The Fly" and merged XP and x64 into an unholy single OS that was destined to die a gruesome death! The end result after hours of trying to recover is that it was beyond repair so I had no choice but to start over and delete both partitions and start again. No biggie since I was going to stop using XP anyway so I had to reinstall all the OS and applications. Luckily my FS directory and all my add-ons are on my RAID 0 array so it was totally unaffected and it just took me pointing FS back to the proper registry. Reinstalling x64 and my apps took about 4 hours, but at the end of the day, reinstalling MSFS and all the add-ons, configs, settings, etc could take a week or more. So now I am strictly running x64.BUT, just a warning.Regards,Mike T.
June 5, 200520 yr ...aren't these machines fun to tinker with? :-)Sorry you had to go through all of that mess, but perhaps your loss is our gain. At least I'll be very cautious when making the transition. Thanks for the heads up.Edited for poor grammar.
June 7, 200520 yr I got another one for ya:If you're having SATA drives, DO NOT use Ghost 8 to backup your partition(s). Had to do complete reinstall of XP after I tried to backup...
